My third entry for @loosegardeners spring fair is ‘best allotment prep’ judged by @4mcds_bloomingplot who has the most amazing plot! I feel like April has been the month for me down at the plot, although I got it in February I have had so many hiccups on the way. Put it this way if it was going to happen it happened to me. Rain, snow, sleet, hail, wind, hospital visits to see family and friends, hospital for myself, a funeral, lots to do at work, a poorly 4 legged friend. With all that it’s made me so grateful to have this space and I accept that I can be proud of this hard work because I have worked and it’s looking good. The flower bed is coming along nicely with bulbs from @jparkersbulbs & @collieflowers.co.uk the veg side is all clear ready for beds, I got a free compost bin (yay!) so I can get that area tidy, and I’ve made a start on tidying the fruit area up. Vorziehen, Saison 2024: diesmal ist der Kohlstängel dabei, den ich bereits auch teilweise schon ins Hochbeet und in den Boden gepflanzt habe; außerdem habe ich mal den Zuckermais nicht direkt in den Boden ausgesät, sodass ich früher ernten kann; ansonsten habe ich diesmal Auberginen, die allerdings noch nicht besonders gewachsen sind, und sizilianische Zitronenchilis vorgezogen. Mal sehen was draus wird. Zudem noch Salatgurken, Mangold und Tomaten. 👨🌾 Pre-planting, 2024 season: this time the cabbage stalk is included, which I have already partially planted in the raised bed and in the ground; I have also not sown the sweetcorn directly into the ground, so that I can harvest earlier; otherwise I have pre-planted aubergines this time, although they haven’t grown much yet, and Sicilian lemon chillies. ~APRIL 2024~ Hello I’m Helen and this is my little oasis in London 👋 I’m lucky to live here with my husband and cat Cosmos who you can spot in the second photo 🐱 You can see from the third photo and the fourth slightly blurry estate agents photo that we were lucky that when we moved in two years ago that the garden had some mature shrubs including 9 roses (!), but was in need of some TLC. After a couple of weekends of clearing and some love over the past two years it’s looking pretty fab 🌸 Even on this very drizzly grey day the garden is currently full of colour which makes me verrrry happy. The tulips are nearing an end, but we’ve still got a raft of colour from the forget-me-nots, wallflowers, alyssum, ceanothus, choisya and lots of fresh green growth on the roses 💐 The summer will hopefully see the garden filled with cosmos, dahlias and sweet peas with some veg growing up the back - tomatoes are my staple 🍅 Just need a bit more sunshine and warmth before we can get things into the ground ☀️ This account is my garden diary to remind me of all the progress I’ve made and the pretty things I’ve grown over the years - from my little balcony to now. Just received my latest sculpture design from the laser cutters, Accurate Laser who have done a great job. Working on the design on-screen at such a small size I wasn’t totally confident that the design would work, but seeing full size I’m really pleased, from some angles it almost looks 3 dimensional, something I hadn’t anticipated. Managed to get the herbs potted up and i'm so proud of how well they're all doing!🌱 This is my first year growing all of my herbs from seed as I set myself a little challenge and we've got: Red-veined sorrel Rosemary Thyme Chives Lemongrass 2 Mint plants that were the only two from a whole seed pack to grow🫣 I managed to split most of these into two or three bunches of each so there's plenty to pot up and maybe gift to family and friends🤗 Also got some basil coming up slowly and surely and parsley which I sowed too much of🫠 but as gardeners we're always learning so I'll know for next time haha #growyourown #herbs #girlswhogarden #ukgardening #urbangarden

Em Novembro comecei a encher um novo canteiro elevado com paus, residuos vegetais, cartão, palha e até ferros.(ver sequência de fotos) Ao longo dos meses seguintes fui colocando composto e terra por cima, tomando como inspiração o método "hugelkultur". Em fevereiro coloquei-lhe uma cobertura plastica que esteve por pouco tempo, até que o tempo começasse a aquecer. Plantei tomateiros, pimenteiros e pak choi. Os Pak Choi que colhi foram os maiores que já tive. Os tomateiros e pimenteiros têm o tamanho que aqui normalmente só atingem em Junho. Primeiro tomate a 25 de abril, mais de um mês antes dos do ano passado. A terra mantém-se húmida, mesmo sem praticamente regar. Neues Hochbeet Boah! Endlich. Ich weiß ihr seid jetzt auch alle im Garten. Das Wetter ist großartig. Leichter Wind, Sonne satt und alles zwitschert. Wie ich es liebe! Also ging es weiter ans neue Hochbeet. Aus alten Paletten die wir noch da hatten hat mein Mann gebastelt, gebaut, geschraubt und getackert. Statt des rosenbogen auf der anderen Seite haben wir uns für eine Stange entschieden. Da bohre ich noch Haken rein und dann kommen da dieses Jahr die Tomaten hin und können sich bei Wind auch mal fest halten :) Aber wie es so ist. Man hat noch so viele Ideen, noch Erde übrig, Pflanzen da. Also wird ein Hochbeet gebaut. Mittendrin fällt mir dann auf, Erde fehlt… nun gibt es neue Erde, von der sicher wieder was übrig bleibt… Kicher… und so wächst der garten Jahr um Jahr. Ich freu mich so! Das Endergebnis zeige ich euch kommende Woche.
