As many of you already know… I recently retired after a long 28 year career in law enforcement (1995-2023) Even though I’ve seen and heard a lot of crazy messed up things and witnessed much blood and violence over the years. I’m thankful to have always had a great support system and the coping tools to not bring that home with me. I’ve prided myself on always staying the same and not letting the job or environment change my positive empathetic and fun loving personality. I’ve never made the badge my identity. There has always been more to me than that uniform and badge. That’s why it was so easy for me to leave after 28 years and begin my next chapter. I’m so grateful for this career and the wonderful people it has allowed me to cross paths with. 30 years ago today I first set foot in Alaska. I had no idea how much of an effect the last frontier would have on my life, my perspectives, my values, and my time behind the wheel. I spent most of the 90s living in Alaska and made a dozen or so trips back since with only a few by air. Lots of road trips. I can never properly express the love I have for the landscape, the people, the weirdness and grandeur of Alaska and I also don't think I'm fully aware of how much it shaped who I am. So earlier this year a few of my buddies and I decided to start a Push Up Challenge. . We committed to doing one extra push up every day for a whole year. . We started with 10 the first day. 11 the next day. And so on. Until we get to 365. . We started a group text string to keep each other accountable.
