Let me introduce myself, my journey since I was 8. This page is to create awareness, about “invisibleillness” (something this picture does not depict) and this account is to target a specific audience, it may not be for everyone! My first seizure was in my sleep. Thankfully I was sleeping in my parents room and my they called 911, they immediately came. The seizure was short (30 seconds) and no one knew what was going on. I was conscious the entire time. This was followed by a hospital stay for a couple of nights, all negative test results, everything inconclusive and we were back on our way with a referral to a neurologists 70 minutes away from our hometown. I was out in a daily medication, Tegretol, and it stayed pretty well controlled. Growing up in a largely Indian influenced community, the new diagnosis was always “hush hush”, by no means intentionally, but just how it, unfortunately, still is. It was never spoken about, discussed and just managed within my immediate family. I went to college and the same,feeling the need to “hide” my condition, (but always remember my daily medications (taken late night at clubs, at friends house, etc. Enjoyed a few of the best years of my life with very little to no episodes, again, no one has to know, my daily medications taken in privacy was all it took! Boy, do I miss those days. Life was “normal “, I was “normal” why did I have to share? I was controlled, I saw no need. Yes, I did have some seizures,but was and am still able to manage them well. At that time it didnt impact my daily lifestyle. My close friends and boyfriend then, currently husband knew about my condition and was as supportive then as he is now. I went to graduate school still “normal”, again hiding an #invisibleillness, because there was no need to share. After I got married, we started to think about having a family, and this condition #epilepsy HAD to be addressed. Story to continue in another post. 35 years later, I am no longer hiding. Okay, here’s the deal... #storytime I have been successful with this only 1 time and I have been desperately trying to accomplish it again. I recently got another #oxistriangularis and am again trying the very controversial (of this plant because of the rhizome factor) water propagation. I have snipped 2 stems just above the soil and they have been in this glass for 2-2 1/2 weeks now, with bright indirect light and changed water every 3 days. The one time I was successful, it took just over a month before I saw much activity . So far they open and close like they should and the stems are still firm so I’m hopeful 😅 stay tuned! If you’ve ever worked a retail job some companies require bag checks prior to their employees leaving for the day 💼 Nothing wrong with that 💁🏻♀️ At past jobs I’ve had, I had two employers that did this. Frankly I HATED IT. Why? 🤔 Because it’s one thing if one of your bosses just asks you to open your bag, they take a look, and then you go off on your way. BUTT what’s NOT okay is when they go so far as to dig their hands into your belongings and rummage around and also make you unzip your wallet as well 🙅🏻♀️ Like bruh? I also got feminine products in my bag like my pads for that time of the month plus a pair of panties just in case of “emergencies” and especially if my boss is a dude, it’s embarrassing if he touches my stuff, like he doesn’t need to touch or see that 😳 Honestly it’s ironic that retailers don’t do anything about shoplifters yet they they’re more concerned about employees unzipping their tiny wallets…. 🤦🏻♀️ If you’re a business that doesn’t trust your employees enough such that you need to go that far, that sucks for the employees because now they feel like they’re being seen as “thieves”. People think infertility is like getting a negative pregnancy test every month and feeling sad. But it’s so much more than that. It’s grieving the life you once planned. It’s feeling like you don’t have control of your future. Watching others easily get what you’ve been working so hard for. Feeling like no one understands…feeling stuck and isolated. It’s feeling exhausted & overwhelmed. It’s dealing with anger, sadness, excitement, disappointment, grief, and hope all at once. Infertility is being told by family and friends with the best of intentions to “just relax” as if you’re a controlling person. And maybe if you didn’t have to have everything so planned then we would have been pregnant the first month we tried. As if it’s not a medical condition. It won’t just go away, just like diabetes or cancer. Laying around the house or taking a nice relaxing vacation won’t make us fertile. Hawaii will not improve a sperm count. A hot rock massage will not restore hormone imbalance. And a “fun night out” to take your mind off conceiving will not miraculously cause us to become pregnant. Infertility means months and months later wondering why everyone around you gets to choose when & how many kids they want. The best way I know how to describe it is… Imagine being at an amusement park with no ticket. And, as much as you plead, pay, or try, you can’t get a ticket. You just stand there watching everyone else have fun and enjoy themselves but you stand alone, outside, only able to watch. But the hardest part is watching. Watching those who get this valued ticket. Watching some rip it up, watching others throw it away. You watch knowing you would have taken all of those tickets. But you can’t …you can’t just go around collecting unwanted tickets. And no one can just give you theirs…even if they weren’t going to use it anyways. Watching those who are just walking by get thrown a ticket and they’re thrust into this park they weren’t ready for. But you’re ready. So unbelievably ready. Watching those who just sit down in the park and don’t enjoy the ride, the fun, sometimes the throw up, the late night and they sit there…just wishing their time in the park away.

Some people continue to excuse all types of abuse on account of a history of trauma. Do you know someone who does this? ✨But let me make this one thing clear✨ Hurt people hurt people. Just because someone was hurt in the past doesn’t make it ok to continue the cycle. It doesn’t mean we have to accept it, or excuse it. It’s shitty when my clients realize that they are responsible for healing from their childhood or abuse from a partner. It’s unfair. I admire every single one of my clients who do the work though. It’s hard, painful, and draining. It feels worse before it feels better. But they are committed to breaking the cycle and understanding themselves better, while also seeing a new perspective. When we work together to examine generational abuse and trauma, yes, it makes sense and explains why their parents hurt or neglected them. But the last thing we do is excuse that type of treatment. We all have the power to break the cycles.
