Queen Butterfly watercolor (photo background) : Queen butterflies are one of the most stunningly colored butterflies with a wide range of distribution. It can sometimes be difficult to tell them apart from their cousin the monarch butterfly. Their milkweed diet makes them taste very unpleasant if eaten by birds. This species occurs throughout the western half of the United States, but it frequents the southern areas of this range more consistently, including the majority of Texas. From here, it inhabits the appropriate habitat through the western half of Mexico as well. : #QueenButterfly #BeautifulButterfly #PlantMilkweed #MonarchCousin #ButterflyConservation #NatureIllustration #WildlifeIllustrator #JohnJamesAudubonCenter #JohnJamesAudubon #JohnJamesAudubonCenterAtMillgrove
Queen Butterfly (watercolor) It is thanks to pollinators, such as butterflies, bees, and other insects, that we have many of the flowers and dietary staples that we enjoy, like squash and blueberries. There are tons of very simple ways to care for a property or garden without causing harm to pollinators and sentient beings in the soil. Our lives and all living creatures depend on us to be creative and resourceful to find these solutions. Be a creative explorer and leave footprints of love and appreciation for this earth. : #QueenButterfly #BeautifulButterfly #PlantMilkweed #ButterflyConservation #NatureIllustration #WildlifeIllustrator #JohnJamesAudubonCenter #JohnJamesAudubon #JohnJamesAudubonCenterAtMillgrove

I've been chasing this little lady and her young-uns for several days. She (and her husband) are very, very skiddish because they don't see a lot of people in their area. Now that she has babies she's even more so. This is the best shot I could get of her and the kids (so far). . . #woodduck #audubonsociety #johnjamesaudubon #johnjamesauduboncenter #keepkywild #kentuckywild #kywildlife #kyfishandwildlife #kentuckyone #kentuckyfishandwildlife #kentuckyafield #myoldkentuckyhome #nikon_wildlife #nikonphoto #nikonphoto #kyartscouncil #photographyisart #bbcwildlife #natgeowildlife #yourshotphotographer #myshot #bestoftheusa_birds #bestofthebluegrassstate #kentuckycraftedartist #reckollectphotography

Published - London: Havell, 1827-1838. America’s most revered artist-naturalist, John James Audubon (1785—1851), is renowned for his extraordinary undertaking to record the birds of America. The images he created are icons of 19th-century art. Though he studied and drew from nature since childhood, it was not until 1819 when he was the father of two sons that John James Audubon fully embraced the life of an artist-naturalist with the support of his devoted wife, Lucy Audubon. In 1820, John James Audubon left his family in Cincinnati, embarking with a young apprentice, Joseph R. Mason. Mason worked with John James Audubon from 1820 until 1822, contributing mostly botanical elements to about 55 of John James Audubon’s paintings. Later, the artists George Lehman, Maria Martin, and his sons Victor Gifford Audubon and John Woodhouse Audubon assisted John James Audubon with botanical and landscape backgrounds. Published from 1827—38, the lavish double-elephant size folio of The Birds of America, spectacularly launched John James Audubon’s career as an artist-naturalist and publisher of natural history folios depicting North American birds and animals. £700

: Queen Butterfly watercolor, colored pencil, pastel : As pollinators, the monarch butterfly migration across the continent provides an invaluable service, essential for many ecosystems to thrive. It is thanks to pollinators, such as butterflies, bees, and other insects, that we have many of the flowers and dietary staples that we enjoy, like squash and blueberries. In an ideal world, those who sell toxic neonicotinoids and herbicides would show reciprocity and offer non-toxic solutions. Until then, it's up to individuals to take personal responsibility to shift to better solutions. There are tons of very simple ways to care for a property or garden without causing harm to pollinators and sentient beings in the soil. Our lives and all living creatures depend on us to be creative and resourceful to find these solutions. During our winter drives and walks, seeing rows and stretches and expanses of leafless trees, we’ve talked about how they are not lifeless really—they are just exactly how they need to be in this season—it’s just a different state of being, a different way of living. It’s okay—often, necessary—to be different, to live differently in our own different seasons. #winter #nature #johnjamesauduboncenter #johnjamesauduboncenteratmillgrove #philadelphia #usa #nccusa20222023
Gerri & Joe -- ever since I met these two for the very first time, it was evident that their love was special. Their love was as radiating as the sun and even beyond that. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Throughout their wedding day, it truly showed the dedication to detail and how much thought they put into everything to make sure that the day was perfect.... and it was. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Everything from the minimalistic yet still stunning florals, to the customized koozies and the outpouring of love between family and friends. These moments can never be replicated or replaced and are now ones they can look back on forever, remembering each and every emotion and memory. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The spotlight is on The Leone's today in my new blog post that is now live -- link is in the bio & stories ✨ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ photography | @sarahcanningphoto venue | @audubonweddings florist | @kimharrisglasson videography | @srphotofilm makeup | @kristenfiori hair | @salon.hue dress designer | @jennyyoonyc menswear | @menswearhouse entertainment | @mazzentertainment catering | @jamcatering ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
