Name: Zebra pleco Scientific Name: Hypancistrus zebra Conservation Status: 🔴 Critically Endangered (IUCN) Threats: Habitat Destruction, Poaching Range: Rio Xingu, Brazil Description: The Zebra pleco is a species of pleco that can be found in a section of wetland streams throughout a small portion of the Xingu River near the city of Altamira. This fish is solitary. Its diet consists mostly of invertebrates along with detritus. Fun Facts: • The zebra pleco is named after its striped pattern. Each pattern is unique to each pleco, just like an actual zebra’s! • Unlike a lot of other plecos, the zebra pleco’s diet is more carnivorous, preferring to eat aquatic invertebrates over algae! • Males of this species are territorial, defending its turf from other males! • This fish is highly sought after by aquarists. As it only lives in a very small portion of a river, it is highly vulnerable to extinction. A dam built poses a huge threat to this species as the water flow it requires has been drastically reduced, and fish are also sometimes illegally collected for the black market. A few breeding programs currently exist for the zebra pleco in hopes of restoring its wild population and to supply captive-bred fish for the aquarium trade! We landed at Kwara airstrip late afternoon, and decided to go ‘straight to camp’.. but we made a small diversion past where a pack of wild dog were seen earlier that day and how worth it it was. The first painting I ever published was on Earth Day 2020. It was a Bob Ross oil paint tutorial and was a nice nature scene. I felt it was appropriate for the day and has become my one and only art tradition. Every year I publish something nature related on Earth Day. This year marks my 4th year of this tradition and is my biggest announcement yet. This is my piece for Earth Day 2024. I created a piece this year focusing more on the Earth’s wildlife. Сафари на рассвете на расстоянии вытянутой руки💫 Заповедник Самбуру как и одноименное кочевое племя здесь живущее. Все слоны, что вы видите которые идут на водопой, это мама и все её детки. Папа у словнов «сделал дело-гуляй смело», если увидишь одного гуляющего-это отец. Так же обстоят дела у тигров и зебр. Жирафы обитают семьёй, вместе с детьми и тут же дружат и трутся шейками. Обезьяны те, что на дереве и в горе, они ночуют все вместе, детки на спинах мам катаются и там же на дереве вождь решил оплодотворить свою самочку на самом верху 😂не успела заснять) На видео лев со львицей на охоте, говорят большая редкость встретить такое. Они всей семьей, она уверена, спокойна и вальяжна. Лев всегда сзади неё, сильный, смелый и рядом🤎он-царь зверей, его опасаются и уважают, но со львицей он защитник и оберегатель. Честно говоря такое зрелище люди смотрят на броне-тачках с огромными фото базуками 😁наш гид решил что с детьми и на открытой машине можно ближе всех подъехать в тот момент, когда они подходили. Мы увидели их на закате по приезду в заповедник Самбуру, по пути встречая слонов, обезьян, жирафов, антилоп и множество диковинных птиц 🌅 •Самое яркое одноименное племя Самбуру, что в переводе с африканского означает «бабочки», потому как из всех племен в мире они самые! Нарядные и цветные! А еще танцуют по всем поводам семейным. Ближние их родственники известные в Африке-Масаи, разделившиеся не так давно. • И мужчины и женщины подстригаются налысо, ходят топлес, в нижней части тела яркая ткань, под сандалии цветные носки в полоску и огромное множество украшений из бисера, которые символизируют статус, семейного положение, количество детей и символика шаманских возможностей. • Девушка имеет возможность выходить замуж после 10 лет и рожать детей, она сама выбирает жениха и смотрит на его богатство в виде скота и красоту и может отказать или послать хорошеть и богатеть😁 • Мужчина может иметь до 3 жён, но для этого он должен быть пропорционально богаче, чтобы обеспечивать каждую из них и предоставить для каждой жены с детьми «дом». Привилегия отдается «старейшинам» пока он набирает трех жен, а примерно до 28 лет мужчина может считаться молодым и не мочь их получить, пока он не достигнет статуса. Из-за этого возникают частые измены. • Кочуют они каждые 5 – 6 месяцев, потому как нужно обновить место для пропитания скота. Домики их легко разборные или они залазят под них и как черепашкой переносят на другое место. Может показаться, что племенам необходима помощь, но на удивление в этом племени люди очень счастливые и самодостаточные, есть в истории моменты когда им предлагали улучшить свою жизнь, но их все устраивает.
