A few snaps from Wednesday morning beside the lake. Instagram doesn’t appear to like posting more than 4 large photos at a time, it seems. Quite annoying, because I had some other photos that I was keen to add to this post! Also, I learned a few lessons whilst sorting through the ridiculous number of photos I captured. One, remember to clean my telephoto lens. Two, sometimes a it’s better to prioritise aperture over ISO, and other times it’s not. The Canberra Balloon Spectacular happens once a year. Thousands of people, both locals and tourists, gather to see more than thirty colourful balloons fill the sky. In more photos to come the balloons head across the lake towards the arboretum to show off their interesting shapes and pattern. You can choose between several paths ranging from 5km (3mi) to 14km (8.7mi), or tackle the entire lake at about 30km (18.6mi). . John was on the bike and managed a nice long ride and we caught up back at the Visitors Centre in Commonwealth Park after I had walked 7 kms. We then went to the cafe at the visitor centre for tea and toast ~ mine was orange and cranberry toast as seen in the image! . A few days before the weather got crazy hot, my family and I went for a lovely walk at Weston Park in Yarralumla, near Lake Burley Griffin. The place was just beautiful, and the green trees were a cool break from the upcoming heatwave. While we walked by the lake, the water reflected all the cool colours around us. The boats parked there were gently moving with the breeze, making awesome reflections on the lake. The whole scene was like a beautiful painting, with the sunlight playing tricks on everything. We stopped for a bit to soak in the calm vibes and enjoy the awesome nature around us. Just to take a moment out of our busy lives.
