Amazing visit to Copenhagen Contemporary. A bit off the beaten track in a semi industrial hinterland, some huge spaces present work with a beautiful refined energy. Great curation and calm execution, made for a really memorable trip on a grey day. And the chance to see the James Turrell Aftershock installation was utterly 🤯🤯🤯. Not my pic at the end of this set, as no photos allowed (totally justified). But oh my god. Total silence, isolation and a visual onslaught that scrambles your brain. Just breathtaking. If you are nearby till the end of March, go and see it. Lille Bakery Copenhagen, Denmark ⠀ Butter breakfast with bread and cheese ⠀ 코펜하겐의 핫한 레스토랑 노마 (개미를 먹는 레스토랑을 들어본적이 있다면 그곳이 노마다 )의 페이스트리 쉐프가 운영하는 베이커리. 코펜하겐의 핫한 베이커리 카페인 만큼 평일 오전부터 멀리서 찾아온 손님들 혹은 아침에 먹을 빵을 사러온 주민들로 북적 거렸다. ⠀ 시내에서 많이 떨어져 있어서 버스를 타고 종점까지 가야만 찾을 수 있는데 왜 이런곳에 가게를 냈을까 ? 싶으면서도 와이파이조차 되지 않는 공간에 사람들이 넘쳐나는 것을 보며 낯설었던 위치에 설득되어버린 ⠀ 빵을 고르면 집게로 담아주는 대신 손으로 덥석 잡아 봉투에 담아준다. 투박한 손길이지만 누구보다 섬세하게 만든 제품들. 커피 또한 빵과 같다. 에스프레소 머신을 이용하는 대신 미리 내려놓은 아메리카노를 큰 보온병에 담아두고 주문하면 버튼 하나 눌러 머그잔에 따라준다. 쪼로록 작은 머그잔에 따라준 아메리카노 커피에 우유를 넣어 주면 그게 라떼란다. 심지어 차디찬 우유를 넣어 준 라떼아닌 라떼같은 라떼는 미지근한 온도로 나에게 주어진다. 당황스러운데 그러면서 또 코펜하겐에 반하게 되어버리는,, ⠀ 🧈많지 않은 양의 버터 그렇지만 치즈랑 빵과 함께 곁들여 먹기 적당한 양이였다. 베이커리인만큼 빵이 정말 맛있었고 미지근한 라떼 조차 너무 맛있어서 한 잔 더 마시고 말아버렸ㄷㅏ
I’m ashamed to say that this is the first time the photos of my visit to @lillebakery have seen the light of day (or Instagram, at least). I’ve had so much content to post on stories and the grid that I just kept putting it off, and then I knew I would be doing this post, and so I decided to wait. Also, in a way, I feel a little bit gate keeper-y about this bakery trip, as strange as that sounds because Lille is pretty well known. It’s not that I wanted to keep it to myself as a secret gem, rather it’s that this is a special memory. I went on a solo morning trip across the city without any data because mine had run out and even though I’d purchased more, I couldn’t get it to work. It was raining, hard, almost biblically so, and I had to get back to meet my parents in time for our morning activities. I wasn’t sure if I was on the right bus, and it was all a bit stressful. But I got there, and it was everything I’d hoped it would be, and more. Lille and @juno_the_bakery were the two bakeries I was most excited to visit during my trip, and whilst Juno was closed for their summer break, I did manage to snap up a decent haul from Lille. Brioche bun with sweet ricotta and poppy seeds. Oat and raisin cookie. Einkorn sea buckthorn jam thumbprint cookie. Sausage roll. Blomster bun (cinnamon roll). Seeded roll with whipped butter and hard cheese. Both the oat cookie and einkorn were outrageously delicious and moreish. I regret not buying multiple but at this point, I didn’t realise I could take things home on the plane. I will not be making the same mistake twice you can be sure of that! I do not know what it is about bread, butter and cheese in Denmark but it’s like no other. Much like in France, the trio are indubitably a match made in heaven. But if you have that combination anywhere else, it’s just not the same. I have to admit, I did bring back an enormous wedge of Danish hard cheese and I stand by it being better than cheddar… If 2024 brings me anything, I hope that it’s another sojourn in Copenhagen because I absolutely fell in love with this stunning city, its incredible architecture and great food. 【2023.9.11-9.14 スウェーデン】 「これ、お気に入りです」 光にかざしながら見せてくれたのは、アスタリスクの記号にも似た、星の模様が愛らしいワイングラス。たんぽぽの綿毛のような円形模様とのコンビネーションが珍しく、独特の魅力がある。 4日ほど滞在したスウェーデンは、去年の旅に続いて2回目の訪問。前回見つけたお気に入りのお店に立ち寄って買い求めたのだそう。 「Malmöというスウェーデンの南部で、おじいちゃんがひとりでやっているアンティークショップで買いました。犬を連れた若い人が来ていたり、店の前でお茶していたり、ローカルなコミュニティにもなっているお店。このお店は、床に割れているものがいっぱいあるんですよ。でも誰も気にしていない。商品のガラスが、ぎりぎりのバランスで積み上げられていて、触ったら落ちてしまうかも、というドキドキを楽しむっていうコンセプトなんじゃないかと思うぐらい。あと、グラスのなかに謎の液体が入っていたりします（笑）。 このお店を訪れるのは二度目で、毎回セレクトがとてもよくて、たくさん買いました。これはトムテという北欧に伝わるおじさんの妖精。ポリッジというお粥を食べている様子が描かれたお皿です」 トムテは農家の守り神だというけれど、スウェーデンの話を聞きながら、ゆきさんの旅のお守りみたいだと思ったものがある。 「2024年の春にお披露目するアランニットは、Donegal Yarns（ドネガルヤーン）というアイルランドの毛糸を使おうと決めていたんです。2022年の旅で出会った、アイルランド産の毛糸です。今回の旅では、この糸の見本帳を連れて歩いていました。1ヶ月もアトリエをあけるので、早く色を決めないと制作が間に合わないという現実的な理由もあったのですが、東京以外のいろいろな陽の下で、この毛糸を見てみたらどうなるだろう？ って。 土地によって光の色も、街並みも違いますよね。東京で見たときは、この毛糸はツイード調で、牧歌的な印象があったんです。でもアイルランドの自然の風景のなかで見たら、たくさんの色が混じり合う様子が、落ち葉に光がぱっとさす様子にも、木の実のようにも見えました。その土地ならではの自然をデザインに落とし込んでいるのだということが、すっと自分のなかに入ってきて、腑に落ちたんです」 ─── 【2023.9.14-9.19 デンマーク】 マーガレットのような花びらが、ボウルとステムの間に咲いている脚付グラス。以前、偶然Instagramで見かけてうっとりした記憶が、目の前の実物で思い出された。 そのグラスは、6〜7年前の初訪問に続いて2回目だというデンマークで買ったもの。今回の滞在は6日間と少し長め。 「ニーナさん（Nina Norgaard）という、Cecilie BahnsenやHAYとコラボレーションもしているガラス作家の方に連絡して、アトリエを訪問したんです。はじめましてだったのですが、インスタでDMしたら、アトリエに来ていいよって。ヨーロッパでは、アポイントを取れば、一般の人もアトリエに行けるような空気感があるみたいで。そのフラットでオープンな関係性がとてもおもしろいなと思いました。文化として、つくることとの距離が近い感じがして、わたしもやってみたくなりました」 ゆきさんは旅をするとき、YUKI FUJISAWAのシグネチャーアイテムのひとつでもある、ヴィンテージのトートバッグに箔をほどこしたものに贈り物用のリボンをかけて持ち歩いている。それをスタジオビジットのお礼にと、Ninaさんに手渡した。翌日が誕生日なの、とNinaさんは笑って喜んでくれたそう。 少しだけ勇気を出して、会いたい人に会いに行き、ちょっとした奇跡が起こることがある。それは、旅先の出会いというものが、交差した時間がひとときだったとしても、お互いがそれぞれの場所で懸命に生きてきた時間が、点ではなく面で重なるからだと、こういう話を聞くたびにわたしは思う。 「デンマークは街の人々や動物がすごく人懐っこい感じがして、それが印象的でした。泊まったAirbnbのオーナーさんが、帰宅が遅くなってしまった夜に親身になって心配してくれたりして。“どうしてそんなに優しくしてくれるの？”と聞いたら、“優しくするほうが簡単じゃない”って。猫不足を解消するために猫のいる宿をいくつか予約したのですが、猫たちも毎晩一緒に寝てくれました」 つづく ─── 「小さなお土産たちが語り出す、旅の記憶」スウェーデン・デンマーク：旅の話 #YUKIFUJISAWA制作日記 2023年10月21日 Words @ymue / Photo @8msmsm8 movie @yuki__fujisawa
