Two days until I introduce Swansea to the world! I’d like to take a moment to spotlight @lisastown, the brilliant Seattle artist behind the imagery of this record. Lisa and I collaborated for many months to create art direction that reflects the mood of my music and also honors the natural beauty of the PNW - the place that so directly inspires my songwriting. - On a freezing day last November, we ventured to the Washington coast and spent hours and hours taking photos in the rain at Rialto Beach. It was fun, it was adventures, it was bitter cold, and it is a day I will always remember fondly. It was a little less than a year ago that we drove out to the Pacific Coast with hair and makeup artist @ashleyreneekirby to shoot the imagery for her newest music in a total rainstorm, running in and out of the car in bursts, determined to capture the dreamy imagery we all had in our heads followed by begging a closed coffee shop in Forks to sell us some hot tea after sunset. Let’s talk about Nate! Artist Spotlight: Nathan Yaccino Role: Producer and Engineer - I had the honor of working with Seattle’s Nathan Yaccino to make my new record, Swansea. He runs his own studio hidden in the heart of Ballard, called The Ballard Baitshop. It was once an old sailmaking loft, and the minute I stepped foot in there I knew it was the place for me - I could feel it. It is beautiful and comfortable and the kind of place where you can be free to dream. We recorded the record between the months of June-October of 2018, and I think it’s safe to say we both had one of the best summers of our lives. Nate is creative, funny, generous with his time and energy, and pushed me to be a better musician and step outside of my comfort zone more than anyone else ever has. I feel lucky that I had the chance to collaborate with him, and the new record is just as much his as it is mine. - In a little less than three weeks we are opening up the studio and hosting a special listening party for the new record! Join us on September 7th as we celebrate the album, enjoy some cocktails, and spin Swansea for the first time. Tickets are going fast but there are still a few left!
