Catherine Elizabeth Pierson (born April 27, 1948) is an American singer, lyricist, and founding member of the B-52s. She plays guitar, bass and various keyboard instruments. In the early years, as well as being a vocalist, Pierson was the main keyboard player and performed on a keyboard bass during live shows and on many of the band’s recordings, taking on a role usually filled by a bass guitar player, which differentiated the band from their contemporaries. This, along with Pierson’s distinctive wide-ranging singing voice, remains a trademark of the B-52s’ unique sound. NINA HAGEN - das neue Bild in der Größe 140cm x 140cm mit 2630 gebrauchten Kronkorken, die mit einer speziellen Technik auf die beidseitig tiefschwarz beschichtete edle Alu Dibond Platte (3mm) angebracht wurden, stellt die Sängerin und Schauspielerin Nina Hagen dar. Sie wird als deutsche „Godmother of Punk“ bezeichnet. Das Bild, das nach zahlreichen Konzerten in den 80er Jahren im Jahr 2024 entstanden ist, fängt nicht nur die schillernde Persönlichkeit von Nina Hagen ein, sondern auch die pulsierende Energie einer Zeit, die von Rebellion und Selbstentfaltung geprägt war. Die Wahl der Kronkorken als Medium für dieses Porträt mag auf den ersten Blick unkonventionell erscheinen, aber bei näherer Betrachtung offenbart sich ihre symbolische Bedeutung. Kronkorken, oft als Überreste einer vergangenen Feierlichkeit betrachtet, werden hier zu Bausteinen eines kreativen Mosaiks, das das Wesen einer Künstlerin einfängt, die selbst die Grenzen der Konvention sprengte. Die Farben und Formen der Kronkorken, sorgfältig arrangiert, verleihen dem Bild eine Dynamik und Tiefe, die Ninas eigenem Charisma gerecht wird. Die 2360 Kronkorken, die für dieses Bild verwendet wurden, stehen nicht nur für die Vielzahl von Konzerten, die Nina Hagen im Laufe ihrer Karriere gegeben hat, sondern auch für die Vielfalt ihrer künstlerischen Einflüsse und Ausdrucksformen. Von Punk bis zu experimentellem Rock, von Theater bis zu Film - Nina Hagen hat sich stets als eine Künstlerin verstanden, die sich keinem Genre oder einer bestimmten Norm unterwirft. Und so spiegelt das Kronkorkenbild nicht nur ihr Gesicht, sondern auch ihre vielschichtige künstlerische Persönlichkeit wider. ⠀ Prince And The Revolution - Around The World In A Day (1985)⠀ ⠀ ~~~~~⠀ I don't know all of Prince's catalog, but amongst those I've heard, this is my favourite album. 39 years on from it's release, the sense of adventure, innovation and musicianship just shines through for me on this album. I love how there are all these shades of influence seeping through from one track to the next. You can't really pigeonhole the album into any specific genre. Even though it's clear funk and soul grounds his work, he never just allows that to dominate the album. More than the invention is Prince's amazing ability to craft songs that you can't help but be drawn into for their melodic beauty. It's a pop album that stretches boundaries, breaks barriers and creates new possibilities. You can still hear echoes of what he is trying here on newer music of today because many are now just catching on to what he was already doing 4 decades ago. Fusion of funk, soul, rock, pop, psychedelic into one glorious infectious piece such as on Raspberry Beret was truly lightyears ahead of everyone else.
