Qui n’a jamais regardé avec envie le chat ou le chien de la maison, s’étirer sur le tapis du salon. Lorsque nous nous étendons sur le sable, ou dans l’herbe peut-être nous reconnectons-nous à notre moi le plus profond, à Cro-Magnon se frayant un chemin sur la longue route de l’évolution. Quand on aménage son intérieur c’est le confort, la fluidité des déplacements qui devraient être pris en compte quand nos cultures nous invitent à tout filtrer à travers le prisme de l’esthétique. L’intérieur arabe traditionnel invite au chilling, au farniente… Parce que l’on n’a jamais assez de lit, de pouf, de fauteuil… Parce que les coussins sont à la bonne taille, suffisamment rembourrés, suffisamment grands, suffisamment fermes et suffisamment moelleux pour épouser ou au contraire résister au corps… Parce qu’ils ont été fabriqués avec les bons matériaux, de la laine, du lin, du coton, du cuir, des matériaux si familiers que le corps sait intuitivement lequel aura sa préférence au moment d’en choisir un pour s’asseoir. Parce que l’on a laissé ses chaussures à l’entrée et pour nos pieds c’est un délice. A la fraîcheur des zelliges, succède le moelleux d’un tapis Azilal. Plus loin c’est un tapis Boucharouite… un boucherouite c’est un curry, nos pieds ne savent jamais trop à quoi s’attendre avec cet upcycling ancestral, quelles sortes de tissus aura choisi /trouvé la noueuse. Ailleurs c’est à nouveau la fraîcheur de la terre cuite et plus loin le contact rapeux d’un kilim. Enfin il y a les parfums… Les intérieurs arabes sentent la fleur d’oranger, les épices, le jasmin, le savon noir, le fumet d’un tagine…. « On ne voit bien qu’avec le coeur »disait Saint-Ex… Moi je crois que le coeur, comme les yeux, nous embrouille souvent, et que l’on ne doit pas hésiter à penser son intérieur avec ses doigts, son nez, ses oreilles, ses pieds, son dos, ses fesses 😉 Qu’en pensez-vous ? 📸 #marianmcevoy @cecil_beaton #patricklichfield @elfennmarrakech @horstphorst @riadkbourchou #pinterest

Fashion and design publishing icon Marian McEvoy’s botanical compositions reimagine elements of the natural world in playful, symmetrical assemblages of leaves, vines, sprigs, buds, and berries. Now, in a creative collaboration with celebrated Los Angeles–based designer Kerry Joyce, her artwork has been adapted for a new namesake fabric line—the Marian McEvoy Collection for Kerry Joyce Textiles, with five spirited patterns in multiple colorways reminiscent of her extraordinary botanical collages. “I’d always thought what I did was perfect for fabric,” says McEvoy, sipping coffee on the porch of her farmhouse overlooking the Hudson River. “And even though I know people in the industry, I never approached anyone.
