Glasgow’s best Seafood Restaurant @crabshakkbotanics 🦀🦪🦑 Dining at CrabShakk Botanics was an absolute delight, and it’s easy to see why it’s considered one of Glasgow’s top seafood spots. We kicked off our meal with a dozen oysters, each one brimming with fresh, oceanic flavour and served with a squeeze of lemon. The tempura squid was another standout, perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, paired with a delicious soy and coriander dipping sauce. The seared scallops were cooked to perfection, with a rich anchovy butter and fragrant sage adding depth to each bite. We also had the pleasure of trying the Sri Lankan crab croquettes, an amazing special dish bursting with flavour. For mains, we opted for the classic fish suppers, featuring perfectly battered and fried fish served with crispy chips and tartar sauce. To end the meal on a sweet note, we indulged in the decadent chocolate cake with brown butter ice cream. Seared scallops with cauliflower purée. Something special for Saturday dinner 😃 (recipe 👇) 4 serving(s) 8 Fresh Hokkaido scallops PURÉE 300g Cauliflower (Washed and strain) 100g butter 200ml heavy cream SALSA 15 Roma tomatoes 1/2 Spanish onion, finely diced 1 garlic clove, grated Zest of 1 lime 2 tbsp lime juice 4 tbsp coriander, finely chopped 1/2 tsp Shichimi powder (chilli powder) 1/2 dl olive oil Salt and pepper to taste CAULIFLOWER PURÉE Cut the cauliflower into florets or bite size pieces. Heat the butter until melted, add the cauliflower and sauté until slightly golden.Add the cream. Bring to boil and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally until cooked. Scoop out the cauliflower into a blender and blend until nice and smooth, add some of the butter and cream mixture to make the puree smooth, pass it through a sieve, season. Salsa Fresca Score the tomatoes with a sharp knife. In a pot of boiling water, blanch the tomatoes for 8-10 secs. Take out and transfer to a container with a tight sealed lid and leave it to continue cooking for 10 minutes in the container. Take out and peel the skin off. Cut each tomato in half crosswise, remove and discard the seeds. Finely dice the flesh. Add the remaining ingredients and season to taste TO PLATE UP Season the scallops with salt. In a very hot pan, add some oil and sear the scallops until golden brown, and turn over. Turn off the heat and add a small knob of butter. Continue cooking for a further 1 min. Add your cauliflower purée on the plate as desired. Then add salsa around the purée. The wine list by the glass has a dozen or so well curated offerings, while the bottle list has a larger and very good range to tempt you. The food is similarly tempting and quite delicious, from the exceptional small dishes up to a few larger mains. . Juicy, succulent Rottnest Island scallops with garlic butter, grilled to perfection. . Tender, beautifully spiced chicken skewers with lemongrass, coconut and tamarind. . Buttery potato galette with black garlic mayo and parmesan. . It may not look much but this party pie sized smoked fish pie with tartare is astoundingly good. Of such things dreams are made. .
