✨ Voilà. C’est fini, je suis rentrée. Comme à chaque fois, j’ai encaissé l’arrachement au pays d’origine et les aux revoir comme un uppercut — . J’ai beaucoup pleuré: dans le taxi de Rouen à Roissy alors que j’étais dans une Tesla au toit de verre et que j’aurais dû profiter de la vue du ciel; j’ai pleuré dans l’avion, quand le stewart m’installait une housse matelassée sur mon fauteuil pour la nuit. Il a dû se dire que je n’aimais pas la couleur… Mais en réalité je m’angoissais sur la fin prochaine d’un cycle de vie — celle d’une vie de famille à 3 avec mon fils. Dans 3 mois c’est terminé. Et c’est définitif. Pas de retour en arrière possible. Nos enfants prennent leur envol. Les souvenirs affluent en un fleuve d’images régressives : c’est beau et terrible à la fois — mon garçon souriant dans sa gigoteuse, la première rentrée en maternelle à l’école du Nord quand la seule inquiétude était de savoir s’il n’allait pas faire pipi sans sa couche, les films en DVD qu’on regardait ensemble, les interminables câlins le soir, les je t’aime plus loin que la lune, les vacances tous les 4 avec son frère… Alors l’expatriée en moi, bien qu’établie ici depuis 21 ans et naturalisée, panique. Mes pensées s’agitent confuses et angoissées: pas de famille à Maurice, des enfants qui vivent loin, des copines expat’ qui ne resteront pas non plus, des parents qui vieillissent, une soeur chérie… Se partager entre deux pays ? Il en faut de l’argent. Quelqu’un m’a dit de prendre les problèmes un par un, c’est ce que je vais faire. En sortant de l’aéroport, j’ai inspiré un grand coup et puis j’ai trouvé la chaleur de ce début d’hiver austral juste parfaite. Chez moi j’ai retrouvé mari et fils, mon jardin si vert avec poules et tortues, le chant continu des oiseaux. Mes chiens m’ont fait la fête. A 16h on est allé manger une crêpe. C’était pas bon, mais il y avait la mer alors on s’en fout. C’est là toute la complexité de la chose: aimer la France et être inexorablement retenue par l’infinie beauté de l’île Maurice si préservée de la folie du monde.
