Even with the so-so warm weather, it was very quickly apparent how fast the van heats up, and how dangerous that is for Hydro, so I am again VERY grateful for whoever sent him the evaporative cooler… I had some concerns however, about hooking up the generator at all stops and running the extension cord through the window to power the cooler… just not a feasible option at a lot of stops, especially quick stops where I’m leaving the car … So.. concocted a solution… 110% redneck, but it seems to work, and if it keeps Hydro safe, I dont care how redneck I am.. marine battery with 175 minute reserve, hooked to my inverter, with the cooler plugged into the inverter.. flip the switch and good to go,works great… (it will even power my computer for quick emergency edits!) .., then plug the inverter into the cigarette lighter, plug my trickle charger into the inverter and hook it to the battery, and recharge the battery as I drive… #roadlife #vanlife #hydro #pwxpuppy #mcgiveredit

Oh poor little baby! I messed up during our guinea hatch. After the first keet hatched I decided the humidity was a bit too low. When I changed the humidity I was in a hurry and never hit save. That was at 9:30a and I discovered the mistake at 10:30p, the temp in the incubator had dropped to 84*. I hit save and the temp balanced out but at figured the embryos where dead. Well yesterday I went to throw away the eggs and discovered one was hatching. This morning it hadn't hatched and after some inspection I could see that it had developed at the wrong end of the egg, it couldn't zip and that's why it hadn't hatched. I helped the little thing out but it has some issues from developing at the wrong end and can't stay upright. I read that sometimes this can be helped by putting them in a sort of contraption. So this is what I came up with. The rubber bands keep it from flipping over and it seems to have improved a little. I hope it lives. #mcgiveredit #guineakeets #littlewife #homesteadlife
