Incredulità di San Tommaso Chiostro Santo Domingo de Silos (Burgos, Spagna) Pietra, 1130 Le figure sono disposte su tre livelli Livello inferiore: Cristo con il braccio alzato mostra la piaga sul costato a Tommaso, che incredulo tocca la ferita, seguono tre apostoli alla sinistra di Cristo. Secondo livello: quattro apostoli. Terzo Livello: altri quattro apostoli. La scena è incorniciata da due sottili colonne sormontate da un arco semicircolare. Al di sopra dell'arco sono presenti quattro angeli intenti a celebrare la risurrezione di Cristo suonando degli strumenti: i due alle estremità il corno mentre i due al centro un tamburello. Il tutto è circondato da alcuni edifici che simboleggiano la Gerusalemme Celeste. I volti dei dodici sono ripetuti in serie, non trasmettono le proprie emozioni, nemmeno Tommaso mostra il suo stupore, solo qualcuno si differenzia per la barba più o meno lunga. I pesanti drappeggi nascondono l’anatomia dei corpi rigidi, le mani e i piedi assumono delle posizioni innaturali. I can now rest easy, knowing that I fit into Mao's idea of a real man. However, witnessing this spectacular monument with my own eyes also reminded me of its dark and bloody history. It is estimated that hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of laborers like convicts and peasants lost their lives over the centuries during its construction. The working conditions were notoriously terrible, and common causes of death were accidents, exhaustion, and malnutrition. Today, the restored sections of the Wall stand as popular tourist attractions, attracting millions of visitors annually. Badaling, the section I got to visit, receives more than seventy thousand visitors a day during peak season. Il cristo crocifisso con il capo incoronato di spine, riverso sulla spalla, con la bocca dischiusa e con gli occhi chiusi, come capiamo dalla ferita al costato già morto. La figura della cristianità per eccellenza, il Messia che dona la salvezza. L’iconografia è probabilmente antecedente ai cambiamenti riportati da Giotto al crocifisso, quest’ultimo infatti appare quasi in piedi, come se non sentissi il peso del suo corpo e con i piedi inchiodati separatamente. El 𝔽𝕠𝕣𝕠 𝕕𝕖 𝕋𝕣𝕒𝕛𝕒𝕟𝕠 Marco Ulpio Trajano (Itálica, 18 de septiembre de 53-Selinus, c. 11 de agosto de 117) fue emperador romano desde el año 98 hasta su muerte en 117. Siendo natural de la Bética (actual Andalucía), fue uno de los primeros emperadores romanos nacidos en una provincia. La Columna de Trajano es un monumento erigido en Roma para celebrar la conquista de Dacia (actual Rumanía) por parte del emperador Trajano, evocando todos los momentos destacados de esa expansión territorial. Su construcción, llevada a cabo entre el 107 y 112 estuvo a cargo del arquitecto Apolodoro de Damasco. Este espectacular complejo es el Foro más grande de Roma. Cuenta con la Plaza porticada, la Basílica Ulpia, la columna trajana y el Templo de Trajano. El foro fue construido por orden del emperador Trajano con el botín de guerra traído tras la conquista de Dacia, que había terminado en 106. La falta de espacio disponible en el valle de los foros imponía como solución única la apertura de un amplio paso hacia el Campo de Marte, destruyendo el collado, el Atrium Libertatis y un tramo de los muros Servianos que lo ocupaban. Para la construcción se tuvieron que realizar extensas excavaciones. Es posiblemente fueron iniciadas en el mandato de Domiciano, estuvo completamente a cargo del arquitecto Apolodoro de Damasco, que también acompañó al emperador Trajano en la campaña de Dacia. El foro de Trajano es cronológicamente el último de los foros imperiales de Roma. El 𝕗𝕠𝕣𝕠 𝕣𝕠𝕞𝕒𝕟𝕠 escenario de su historia, construyéndose como un cuerpo que iba creciendo, sufriendo y cambiando según las épocas de la ciudad. Desde lo alto de la colina este valle se extiende como un enorme patio. Mirando hacia las paredes del Campidoglio, a la izquierda, se encuentra su entrada natural. Una suave pendiente nos lleva hasta el río Tíber, la calle de agua que hizo nacer el Foro. Este patio-valle al principio era un lugar de paso. No invitaba a quedarse en sus charcas y humedales. Alojaba, además, un pequeño cementerio que quedaba fuera de la ‘Urbe’ inicial, la ciudad cuadrada del Palatino. El foro romano era un Auditorium. Un lugar donde se organizaban lecturas públicas, donde se iba a escuchar a los oradores, en donde se asistía a los juicios o se comerciaba. Del ‘patio’ en donde se hacen reuniones de la pequeña comunidad o se escuchan chismes pasó a la gran plaza en donde se leían las noticias de todas las provincias del Imperio. Incredulità di San Tommaso Chiostro Santo Domingo de Silos (Burgos, Spagna) Pietra, 1130 Le figure sono disposte su tre livelli Livello inferiore: Cristo con il braccio alzato mostra la piaga sul costato a Tommaso, che incredulo tocca la ferita, seguono tre apostoli alla sinistra di Cristo. Secondo livello: quattro apostoli. Terzo Livello: altri quattro apostoli. La scena è incorniciata da due sottili colonne sormontate da un arco semicircolare. Al di sopra dell'arco sono presenti quattro angeli intenti a celebrare la risurrezione di Cristo suonando degli strumenti: i due alle estremità il corno mentre i due al centro un tamburello. Il tutto è circondato da alcuni edifici che simboleggiano la Gerusalemme Celeste. I volti dei dodici sono ripetuti in serie, non trasmettono le proprie emozioni, nemmeno Tommaso mostra il suo stupore, solo qualcuno si differenzia per la barba più o meno lunga. I pesanti drappeggi nascondono l’anatomia dei corpi rigidi, le mani e i piedi assumono delle posizioni innaturali.
