Is #filmaestheticfriday a thing? I don’t think it is. Should it be a thing? I dunno. Am I posting with that tag? I am. It’s Friday and costing into the weekend thinking about working with film a little more. Illford just released some new large format film and it’s tempting to use. So far my 4x5 + digital camera has been a great combination so maybe 35mm is good for now. Speaking of great combinations @alyssa.graham_ x @endlessmgmt are awesome! While this wasn’t 4x5 it was one of three different #35mm film cameras I used forever ago and just had processed. Do I remember what camera this is from? I think so. Will I use it again? I think so. Anyway, huge thanks to Alyssa for working through a few frames with some very questionable film cameras 📸 These frames do have a great vibe though. We haven’t seen the sun in Michigan in…almost forever. This image was made even further back than that. I * could * look up when in the metadata but I don’t have time for that. I barely have time to craft a post here. The key takeaway: I’m short on time and things happened forever ago. Like the sun. Or maybe California gets all the sun now and we get what’s left. Probably that. If the sun ever shines again, I’d like to work with natural light - I have a tendency to use strobes because it’s iconic in its own sense. Speaking of iconic, @nefariousallure standing in full sun. There’s an 80s vibe here with the window lattice - that’s also iconic in its own way. Anyway, I have to ignore all this and get behind the desk and get back to editing because I’ve been typing for 5 min and already further behind than I was. Have a good one out there. See ya 2023! If we worked together, in front of the camera, behind the camera, or camera adjacent, I’m thankful for you. If our paths crossed or we collaborated, I appreciate you. It’s Friday and the weeks winding down. Sometimes you get a moment to reflect on the busyness of it all. Been a little silent on insta lately but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been hustling behind the desk. Quite a few things going and a lot to be hopeful about. This image is from a series (called #softnotes ) I created featuring artists, enturpanurs, talent of stage and screen, and most importantly, friends. I’ve always wanted to make a series like this, reminds me of something out of @vanityfair or classic studio editorial. Took me forever to get around to finishing the series. Some would say too long, but such is life. This is a wonderful moment with the very talented actress and singer @breighannamarie in the studio. It was photographed so long ago I have no idea when this was taken, I could look it up but you know... Anyway, like I said, the series was long time coming. I’ll post them over time here. Feeling the #blackandwhite work lately. This was taken forever ago in the studio with @nefariousallure with a simple one light setup. Miss the studio and projects behind the camera but the slowdown has been a chance to think and reflect. Time away during the strange day to day of everything is small compared to what many are enduring. It puts things in perspective. I value a quite moment of reflection as it is. Some dudes you just don’t see enough. I met @devon_calero on a project awhile back with a camera in my hand and him behind the wheel of an ATV. The man knows how to drive. As an adventurist and photographer, he’s one cool dude that gets after travel with ambition. His photography is solid and I always look forward to seeing what he’s going to do next. I really dig the #minimalist scene here. I like the vibe. Awhile ago I had the awesome opportunity to work with the very talented @breighannamarie in the studio. And then over the weekend I had fun seeing her on stage as Sophie in the @grcivictheatre production of Mamma Mia! Good times all around.
