#lylypunch no.59 Heads in the clouds. ☁️☁️☁️ After a week of seeing the doctor too many times, taking heaps of antibiotics and steroids, the body is finally on the mend. I lost track of days while drifting in and out of sleep, also didn’t have the energy to keep a tab on work. Felt better on Sunday and somehow pulled out the yarn and needle-punch supplies and started creating again. The quiet times with uninterrupted flow is something I haven’t experienced in years and just sitting here crafting feels like the biggest achievement I had in the entire week. Mornings start with coffee percolating gently, my breathe rising and falling to the rhythm of needle punching, savoring the moment of having headspace to create with inspiration just taking over, knowing that it will soon disappear once I turn on my computer and mywork brain back in action. Which is all the more reason to enjoy it now! 🧶

#lylypunch no. 57 This is my first needle punch piece after a 2.5 years hiatus. I went free flow and just needle-punched freely, putting together colours that I have never quite used them because they are too loud, too pink, too feminine. Yet, soon approaching 38 years old and almost the big 40, womanhood and self identity is something that I think often. “Isn’t that selfish?” “Why don’t you have kids?” “It’s such a waste that you don’t want kids.” These are comments that I’ve received before and often just brush it aside with a smile, but honestly it hurts because it makes you feel lesser as a woman by choosing not to have kids. It’s something I think of often, if there is a parallel universe where I becomes a mother, how would it be? Would I be a better person? Would I turn into a monster? Would I inflict the childhood trauma that I desperately wants to escape from? Would I be good enough? In that universe, I also imagined how we would have a kid who would be like me, a creator who draws up the most exciting and amazing ideas. We wouldn’t be struggling to make ends meet, and we will be able to give them the best childhood we can. As my body clock continues to tick, the growing sense of anxiety if I would regret on my decision continues to haunt. I find meaning in my work, in creation, in showing up on the mat to learn to go inwards and quiet, in spending long period of time alone drawing, creating that feeds this soul. I like who I am now, be it acceptance of appearance, weight and personality. I accept my flaws and embrace the imperfections, I am me and I am at peace. It took me so many years to arrive at this point where I could embrace myself. Knowing myself, I also love freedom more than anything. “There is a kind of sadness in not wanting the things that give so many other people their life’s meaning.” It still makes me sad sometimes, I still question about my choices at times, I think and evaluate it and comes to a decision. Absolutely noone should make anyone of us feels lesser as a woman for not choosing motherhood. We can continue to shine, we can be enough in whoever we choose to be. ✨

از خونه پدری من، تا یکی از زیباترین دشتهای شفایق راهی نیست، نزدیک و در دسترس.. دشتی که ذوق دیدنش از بچگی رویای همیشه بود و میدونستم که همیشه فرصت دوباره دیدنش رو دارم.. اما طی سال ها این دشت از نامهربونی ادم ها کوچیک و کوچیک تر شد، مسیری که به دشت شقایق میرسید پر بود از ماشین ها و ادمهایی که دسته دسته گل هارو با خودشون میبردن، کجا؟؟؟ نمیدونم... اما دشت خالی میشد تا امروز که دیگه چنین دشتی وجود نداره یا اگه هم هست اونقدری نیست که بشه بهش گفت دشت.. حالا وقتی روی این طرح کار میکردم، رفتم به کودکی جایی که من بودم و نسیم و یه دشت پر از شقایق.. . این بار خودم شقایق هارو بافتم با قرمزترین رنگی که ازشون توو یادم بود، به امید این که زندگی در جریان باشه؛ تا شقایق هست.. . . . . . . . . #شقایق #دشت #flowers #red #دستساز_های_من #دستبافت #art #هنر #design #embroidery #needlepunch
