Red-Browed Finches Saw these tiny little guys as part of a group of about 15 finches feeding in my backyard this morning. When disturbed they fly off in a group but usually only a short distance from where they were disturbed. Shot hurriedly and handheld on my Nikon D500 with a 300 2.8, I wish I’d been onto them a little earlier. On mass the red of their beaks,brows and tails made for beautiful colour pops against the ferns and kangaroo paw plants in the background. Whilst working with our handyman here at home yesterday, a tiny juvenile Red Browed Finch came hopping across the ground looking distressed. 🐦 It was so tiny, you couldn’t feel any weight in your hand when it was picked up. Poor little thing was a bit stressed so it was placed into a pot plant on the shady porch. It was so tiny I had to find an Orchy sized bottle lid to put water in so it could drink and recover 🐦 After awhile we noticed it get a bit more active and starting to look about. Carefully picked it up and took it over to some of our trees where we see/hear other finches. The little finch flew out of my hand and into the bottle brush tree. #tmcbphoto2023top10birds #7: Red-browed Firetail: Another inhabitant of the Great Ocean Road, the Red-browed Firetail is aptly named with its bright red "eyebrow", and flashy red tail that is very prominent in flight. This waxbill flew very close to me, landed on a perch just long enough for me to get a view of its profile, grab a photo, and then flew off into the dense sticks and shrubs, seemingly to vanish. Sitting on the deck having breakfast, I heard a lot of commotion among the birds over near the hedge. After first thinking it might be a snake 😱 harassing the fairy wrens inside the hedge, I noticed this scenario happening in the frangipani tree. It seems there was a turf war going on between the red-browed finches and a silver eye. L'hiver arrive à grands pas ici alors on va se donner un petit shot d'été et de couleurs ! Ce beau Diamant à 5 couleurs (oui c'est son nom, ce passereau va dans l'var au ski) va nous mettre du baume au coeur. Il était en train de manger en couple sans trop se soucier des passants. Nous sommes chanceux de les avoir vu puisque, même s'ils sont répandus en Australie, nous n'en avons pas revu depuis. Ils sont facile à reconnaître avec leur croupion rouge et leurs ailes vertes. Et on peut affirmer que ce sont des diamants à leur bec rouge et court. D'ailleurs, vous avez certainement vu des diamants en Europe. Ils sont souvent vendus en animaleries (il y a encore des gens qui veulent des diamants sur le canapé, j'imagine). Les diamants à cinq couleurs vivent en couple et/ou en groupe. Ils peuvent aussi se regrouper à plus de 300 individus pour rechercher de la nourriture en période hivernale. Info comme ça : le mâle offre un long brun d'herbe, en dansant, à la femelle lors de la parade nuptiale. Red-browed Finch فنچ سرخ ابرو از تیره Estrildidae بومی ساحل شرقی استراليا است. سهرهٔ ابروسرخ معمولاً در جنگل‌های معتدل و زیستگاه‌های خشک ساوانا یافت می‌شود. همچنین ممکن است در جنگل‌های خشک و زیستگاه‌های حرا در مناطق گرمسیری یافت شود. این گونه با نوار قرمز روشن بالای چشم و ته چشم قرمز روشن متمایز می شود. بقیه قسمت‌های بدن خاکستری، با پوشش و یقه بال‌های زیتونی است. جوجه های جوان دارای علائم قرمز ابرو نیستند و فاقد رنگ زیتونی بر روی یقه و پوشش بال هستند. فنچ های بالغ 11 تا 12 سانتی متر طول دارند. فنچ ابروی قرمز بسیار اجتماعی است و معمولاً در گله های کوچک 10 تا 20 تایی دیده می شود. گله ها در منطقه خود بی تحرک یا کوچ نشین هستند. گله‌ها جنگل‌های نیمه باز را ترجیح می‌دهند، به‌ویژه لبه‌های جنگل‌ها، جایی که بوته‌های خاردار با مناطق پاک‌شده، به‌ویژه نزدیک نهرها را انتخاب میکنند. هنگامی که مزاحمتی ایجاد می شود، کل گله پراکنده می شوند، می خرند و دوباره در همان نزدیکی جمع می شوند. فنچ ابروی قرمز یک لانه گنبدی بزرگ با ورودی جانبی می سازد که از علف و شاخه های کوچک بافته شده است. لانه ها معمولاً 2 تا 3 متر بالاتر از سطح زمین در بوته های متراکم ساخته می شوند. لانه سازی اشتراکی است. هر دو والدین در ساختن لانه، جوجه کشی تخم ها و تغذیه بچه ها به هم کمک میکنند. چهار تا شش تخم سفید در هر دوره و دو یا سه بار در سال، بین اکتبر و آوریل، گذاشته می شود. جوجه ها در عرض 28 روز کاملاً مستقل می شوند. فنچ ابروی قرمز گاهی با فنچ ستاره ای، فنچ زرشکی و فنچ گورخری اگر با هم در اسارت نگهداری شود، هیبرید می شود. #فنچ_سرخ_ابرو #سهره_ابرو_سرخ سهره_سرخ_ابرو سهره_ابرو_قرمز #فنچ_ابرو_قرمز #فنچ #سهره #پرندگان #پرنده_نگری #فنچ_ابروقرمز #neochmiatemporalis #redbrowedfinch #estrildidae #finch #birdsofinstagram #instabird #ilovebirds
