Nature is the trashcan for many. Something that weighs less than when they brought it in. The hardest part of cleaning the beaches is having to smell the alcohol. It truly is repulsive for me being sobe for 9 years. r which is strange being that I was dj and bartender. That was my life. Now I am disgusted. Talking to people who drink is also hard for me too cause I coukd smell it in their breath. Alcohol is the main thing I always find here which is why i truly think alcoholism is a problem. Life is all about drinking and having a good time. Too drunk I to notice the world around them. But this is why I feel compelled to always go to the beaches and raise awareness and to watch over the beaches. In all my time cleaning the beaches I never thought I would syringes on the sand this is where we walk and where kids would play. Glad I was able to spot it to be able to remove it as one still had the needle intact someone got me gloves from myamazon wishlist which i am grateful for, so I will be using gloves from now on. But this is sad to see. I remember in nyc we had to be careful of stepping on syringes at the beach. But this ain't no Brooklyn. This is paradise and this or any trash shouldn't be found on the beach. We should want to preserve all of this enchantment and magick that is boriken. Please share to raise awareness. I bring signs wherever I go as I am a human billboard to raise awareness. Normally I would go from beach to beach and hold then upon front if the people But if I am going to remain at the beach I put the signs and move them around the beach. I see that they are making a difference. I find many always reading my signs and double checking their areas before they leave. That's what keeps me going. My presence there keeps the beaches cleaner. I am always watching over the beach and I think many see that so might find many people double checking and then look over to me as to say see I took my trash. I know I am teaching people. Just hope those seeds I plant in their minds bloom and they continue that all the time. But this is what compels me to always go to the beach even when I am tired. Pero si voy a quedarme en la playa pongo los carteles y los muevo por la playa. Veo que están marcando la diferencia. Encuentro que muchos siempre leen mis carteles y revisan dos veces sus áreas antes de irse. Eso es lo que me mantiene en marcha. Mi presencia allí mantiene las playas más limpias. Siempre estoy vigilando la playa y creo que muchos lo ven, por lo que es posible que muchas personas revisen dos veces y luego me miren como para decir: "Mira, tomé mi basura". Edpanol abajo Yesterday's beach cleanup. This was just in one beach. So much trash at this beautiful beach. While many of my brothers and sisters here sat next to it and didn't do a thing about it. We have gotten used to seeing trash that it has become culture. We have normalized living in a landfill. Here and everywhere in our world. I walked to 3 different beachesholding my signs up in fron ltnof the people to raise awareness after and cleaned some more. This is what I have done since 2013. I try to clean these up as best as I can. Many are not aware that cigarette butts contain plastic and many harmful chemicals and takes a long time to degrade. I did a tour yesterday and was asked do I ever take time off to just relax at the beach. Nope, my signs always comes with me whenever I go as I I decided to become a human billboard. I must always clean up when I go to a beach or a river because I feel it is all of our duty to take care of our mother and because I am that someone to make a difference.so I would go to a few different beaches in any given day and walk with my signs and clean the beach before finally relaxing at one beach. But I always have to clean up before i relax because I can't enjoy all of this magic knowing its trashed. I don't do this just for show. I am dedicated, determined and passionate about defending boriken and mother earth. This is what I have done since 2013. After I was shot in the face for recording a family leaving their trash. I thoughti would never carry my signs again. Took me a while to return due to my PTSD. But I was seeing how the beaches were getting dirty and so I brought my signs back and continued because I might as well try to raise awareness whenever I go and be that human billboard always. I know you must be getting tired of me posting my daily beach trash cleanups, but guess what, I am also tired of going to a beach to clean it up just to find more trash the next day as always the case, like this past Saturday and Sunday. I am tired of seeing many on this island always ignoring the trash. NOT ALL, but many of my brothers and sisters here. As I find many always sitting next to trash like yesterday and not do one thing. Yet they will happily wave their flag. But as I say pride doesn't mean a thing when you do don't do a thing for your island. .The reality is that trash is a human issue here and everywhere else as we humans care more about the material things and not our world. But when you have such a paradise like boriken, we shouldn't accept anything less than the magical paradise that is boriken. Another day of trash. Trying to leave the Beatles clesner than i found them. Today as i was doing my clesnup, a wonderful human came to me and wanted to help and let me tell you that is a rare thing. But it all made sense because that wonderful human was from Colombia who now calls boriken home. I always see this. I always meet someone from another country taking care of the beaches. Meanwhile many of the people here just sit by the trash and just stare at me like if I was crazy for picking that trash up. Spent the day showing our mother some love as always picking up trash at the beach. Clean one day to find more the next time I go. I feel like many care about drinking and having a good time than they do their own island. Always finding alcoholic beverages everywhere. The black bag was so heavy and I had to walk 10 minutes to bring it out. So exhausted but someone has to do it and we are that somebody. I am only one man but we are many. Many tell me the world's needs more people like me, but many choose not to lift a finger and do something for this beautiful island and our world. Of course yesterday people see me picking up trash right next to them as they sit there just looking at me, but no one ever helps. Yesterday was the 5 year anniversary of being shot for recording a family leaving their trash. I was pistol whipped over abs over my head then shot.The bullet grazed by the cheekbone missing me by a centimeter. Truly a miracle for it to have missed me and truly grateful to be alive today. It was an emotionally charged day. I shed many tears of joy realizing that I am here today breathing and being able to see the clouds and the beautiful ocean again. Grateful to be able to work with the land and create the land and createe this food forest on my farm. I just cried and it felt good to let go. To Express so much gratitude for the day. We truly have taken life for granted. That day could have been my last one on mother earth, when I only started to begin to learn how to live in my authenticity. Why we must take the time to live life to its fullest and continue to explore the beauty of life. I will be uploading a youtube video soon on what happened. But for those that don't know. I have defended the beaches for 11 years. I was tired of seeing how many treated this magical paradise. Tired of seeing these enchantments be destroyed. They left so much trash. I told then to take it. They refused and so I took out the camera recorded them for 10 seconds.
