Nach dem IRONMAN in Port Elizabeth haben wir erst einmal ein #beachcleanup gemacht. An den Stränden liegt unglaublich viel Plastikmüll. Das Problem ist, dass Plastik sich nicht zersetzt, sondern in immer kleinere Teile bis hin zu Mikroplastik zerfällt. Und das dauert ewig. Wenn Plastik also im Meer landet bleibt es dort Jahrzehnte bis Jahrhunderte lang, tötet Meerestiere und landet als Mikroplastik irgendwann auf unserem Teller. Wenn jeder auch nur ein paar Teile Plastik mitnehmen würde, sähen unsere Strände und Meere bald anders aus.

There are some autumn days in Tasmania that are perfect, and our community clean-up day at Saltmarsh in Lauderdale was one of those. Warm sunshine, no wind, pelicans soaring overhead, sooty oystercatchers in the bay with the amazing, surprising flora. Our Saltmarshes are such an undervalued and overlooked ecosystem but so important to the health of our river systems and to the wildlife that depend on them. Warmed by the sunshine, Sea Shepherd Tasmania crew were joined by 19 wonderful volunteers who worked hard for an hour to clean up some accumulated rubbish from the Saltmarsh. Close to the road, there was a surprising number of glass bottles (89) and a seemingly never-ending amount of broken glass (885). Some of the bottles were very old and quite interesting in pretty shapes. Soft remnant plastic came in at 650, and aluminium cans at 102. The miscellaneous bits of metal were another surprise – 202, and some of those were quite large and very heavy. This would have added substantially to our whopping total of 240 kgs! 💪👏 💙 Thank you to everyone who joined the clean-up – amazing effort! We also want to express our gratitude to the Clarence City Council for generously waiving the fees at the waste transfer station. Kkkkkk Desde pequena que pinguins são meu animal favorito, quando eu jogava Club Penguin e tentava conseguir os adesivos peludinhos de pinguim roxo trocando adesivos na van indo pra escola. O primeiro crush da vida foi o pai do Mambo em Hapy Feet (tá bom que era o Hugh Jackman cantando Elvis né, mas sim, eu crushava um pinguim de animação quando tinha uns 10 anos....) Na minha viagem de formatura, fiz 5 marmanjos(as) de 18 anos sentarem comigo pra assistir 30min de palestra sobre pinguins, lá no Aquário de Ubatuba, pq depois da palestra eles deixariam o público alimentar os pinguins (acabei não conseguindo alimentar, pq tinham crianças na palestra, e a prioridade é delas). Comecei uma coleção e seja onde vou, sempre busco adições pra ela. Tenho pinguins colombianos, cariocas e franceses e italianos! E seguirei aumentando a coleção. Doei todos os meus bichinhos de pelúcia MENOS um dragão, um morcego e UNS 6 PINGUINS. E sempre que vejo em algum lugar, fico com vontade de combrar mais! 🏃🏼⛰️Nach dem Marathon.....⛰️🏃🏼 ...ist vor dem Marathon. Dass der nächste 13 Tage später stattfindet, macht das ganze zu einer spannenden Herausforderung, wobei es kein Marathon im herkömmlichen Sinn ist. Dieser findet am Samstag, den 04.05.24 in Innsbruck, beim @innsbruckalpine Trail Festival statt. Der Lauf selbst geht mit Start in Mutters über eine Strecke von 42,5km nach Innsbruck mit Ziel beim Landestheater. Und das Ganze mit 2.500 m rauf und 2.800 m runter. Es es ist bestimmt eine verrückte Idee, die wir da vor ein paar Monaten hatten, aber keine Sorge, ich werde mich dort bestimmt nicht weg schießen, das ganze wird ein gemütliche Geschichte, wo das Genießen im Vordergrund stehen soll🤞. Finishen und Spaß haben, ist hier das einzige Ziel. Ich hoffe nur, dass das Wetter passt. Den Beinen geht es wieder so weit gut, Heute stand, nach drei Tagen OHNE Sport, aktive Regeneration am Plan. 45 Minuten am Ergometer um die Durchblutung und den Stoffwechsel anzuregen. Aktuell wird auch die SEA EAGLE ⚓ für die kommende Kampagne im #Mittelmeer vorbereitet. Im letzten Jahr konnten wir u.a. 3.500 Tintenfischfallen,, über 40 Kilometer Langleinen, 65 Kilometer Polypropylen-Leinen sowie Hunderte Krabbenfallen entfernen und die illegale Langleinenfischerei vor der Küste Kalabriens um 70 % reduzieren. In Italien wurden auch erstmalig Volunteers von Sea Shepherd zu offiziellen Sea Rangern ausgebildet. ☝️🇮🇹 "Von nun an können wir noch besser mit den Behörden in Kalabrien zusammenarbeiten und sie direkt mit unseren Freiwilligen und Schiffen bei der Durchsetzung der Gesetze und Vorschriften unterstützen. Die ausgebildeten Freiwilligen sind befugt, als offizielle Vertreter der Behörden im Rahmen des Fischerei- und Umweltschutzes zu handeln und Überwachungs-, Sanktions-, Präventions- und Aufklärungsmaßnahmen durchzuführen." – Andrea Morello, Präsident von Sea Shepherd Italien. 📣 Όχι μόνο ανανεώσαμε τη συνεργασία μας με τον Ο.ΦΥ.ΠΕ.ΚΑ. για την προστασία της μεγαλύτερης προστατευόμενης θαλάσσιας περιοχής στη #Μεσόγειο στο #OurOcean2024, αλλά ανακοινώθηκε και η απαγόρευση της αλιείας με μηχανότρατες στα θαλάσσια πάρκα μέχρι το 2026 και η επέκτασή της σε όλες τις θαλάσσιες προστατευόμενες περιοχές μέχρι το 2030. «Είμαστε ευτυχείς που συνεχίζουμε το σημαντικό μας έργο στη μεγαλύτερη θαλάσσια προστατευόμενη περιοχή της Μεσογείου. 🏴☠️ The Sea Shepherd Melbourne team recently completed a clean-up in Port Melbourne, a location that unfortunately always has a significant amount of rubbish. Situated beneath the Westgate Bridge along the Yarra River, the area is constantly trashed due to stormwater outlets, poor fishing practices, and gatherings after dark. 💔 It is heartbreaking that polystyrene and plastic remnants are commonly found along with fishing lines, hooks and bait bags. After sorting and counting 1,240 pieces of debris the main categories include: ❌ 224 bits of polystyrene ❌ 219 bits of hard plastic ❌ 186 bits of soft plastic ❌ 145 cigarette butts ❌ 53 bits of plastic food packaging ❌ 14 bait bags 🩵 Thank you to everyone for your dedication to keeping the marine environment and ocean free of trash! 🤙🏃🥇Schmerz vergeht, Stolz bleibt🥇🏃🤙 ....Wobei Ersteres sich noch etwas bitten lässt😉, aber heute nach dem Aufstehen, sieht es schon viel besser aus als Montag und Dienstag. Wie ich da gegangen bin.....war keine Werbung 😂. Langsam realisiere ich auch so richtig dass ich diesen meinen ersten Marathon nach 5 Versuchen endlich gelaufen bin. Es gehört auch dazu gesagt, dass ich erstmals auch am Start stand 😉. Zu den fünf Versuchen davor, schreibe ich später Mal wieder. Egal wie es lief und auch wenn die letzten 17 km die Hölle waren, am Ende steht dass ich die 42,195 Kilometer gelaufen bin und das macht mich ungemein stolz. Ob es einen weiteren Versuch gibt, mal schauen. Luft nach oben wäre ja da 😅 Heute gibt es noch einen weiteren Ruhetag, vielleicht setze ich mich am Abend kurz aufs Ergometer, aber ich glaube, dafür ist dann morgen auch noch Zeit 😉. Von Montag auf Dienstag, hatten wir wieder besuche, dieses Mal von insgesamt drei Athleten von @run2gether.austria. Es war uns wieder ein Volksfest, absolut sympathische Sportler aus Kenia zu besuchen gehabt zu haben.
