A few stages of Scraffito on steel with enamel. Ok, I had planned to do a photo of each stage of the process … but when I started I soon forgot! So I cut the steel, degreased the steel then scratched into the unfired enamel. A cats tail would be useful for brushing off the dust, but she got bored before I drew my trees. I've not been spending much time at my bench over the last couple of weeks as it's been the school holidays. The change of routine has been good though, it's easy to get stuck and stepping away from the bench has helped to recharge my creativity. And another enamelled foldformed brooch finished ☑️ This was a copper piece I made on a course with @paulwellsmetal at Goldsmiths Centre in January. Five days of creative metal forming! 🔨🔨🔨 There’s so much potential for enamelling on these forms. The texture got a bit lost under the enamel, but it’s all part of the enamelling journey. It was a challenge adding the enamel and firing these shapes! Progress on my latest beauty- platinum is a bit more challenging to work with, I buy it in little chunks that resemble liquorice nibs and then melt it into a blob that I then hammer, role down and shape into the form that I need. All while wearing my cool safety 😎glasses when soldering to protect my eyes from that bright hot platinum as it does its thing.
