When you find yourself stuck in an emotional pity party, it is time to get yourself back into gratitude. Whatever you are complaining to yourself about trust that the universe has your back. Then find and list the benefits of the situation as it is, until you perceive there are as many benefits as drawbacks and can truly appreciate your life again. If you are still stuck ... imagine you have a magic wand and the perceived negative situation was just as you wanted it to be ... How would that have been a drawback in that moment and from then on? Keep listing drawbacks until you have certainty that there would have been as many drawbacks as benefits if your preferred opposite had happened. (These are two powerful questions you learn in the Demartini Method when you work with Optimum Thinking.) You are only causing yourself suffering by hanging onto stuck emotional states. "Happy" is an emotion and you create emotions according to the meanings you make about what you perceive. "Happy" is often associated with being elated. When I work with clients, I am not trying to get rid of "happy" as we will always create feeling of happy and sad according to our perception and judgement of a specific situation. On first read, this may seem “nitpicky” ... In my experience, I find it more useful to focus our thoughts on what it will take to feel "fulfilled", as we feel “fulfilled” in our hearts. When I pause and consciously practice being grateful, I feel the connection in my heart in a way that feels balanced and present. Authentic gratitude creates a balanced state of fulfillment and an appreciation for life rather than a polarized feeling of happy or sad. This balanced state is sometimes difficult to describe as our language is full of words that place meanings we make onto the “good” or “bad” side of an unconscious “equation” or scale in our mind. Gratitude and fulfillment are located in “the middle” and it is sometimes challenging to find words that clearly describe these feelings as people tend to say they want a “happy” life as a destination rather than live a “fulfilling” life going after inspiring goals that create fair exchange with other people. #OptimumThinking #Gratitude #EmotionalMastery #Inspiration #Wellness #OptimumMindset

If you are feeling as though your life is not what you want it to be, reflect and list what you are grateful for - what you have achieved and who has helped you throughout your life and how they have helped you. Include who you have helped and how that was of value to you. It is empowering to review how far you have come in life to date. Then plan the next meaningful goals that you are prepared to do what it takes to achieve. Avoid comparing yourself to other people. They have come from different backgrounds and have different life priorities and different challenges you may not even be consciously aware of. Everyone is unique and striving to achieve success according to what is important to them. When we treat people as unique individuals, and learn to understand their Hierarchy of Individual Life Priorities (HILP), we can then understand what they are working to achieve. Our language is full of blaming others for how we feel e.g. “He made me angry!” “I am so ****** off because they did that!” This language set us up as victims and the other person as having power over us. It puts them in control of how we feel. These types of labels break down relationships, the effectiveness of a team and cost us opportunities. If you use a label like “bully” you will then set about proving yourself right by focusing on all of the perceived “negative” behaviours that prove you right and ignoring all of the times the person demonstrated the opposite perceived “good” behaviours. You and everyone else will always use the chosen action or in-action that they perceive will give them the most benefit in the moment! When you perceived you were challenged in the past, take some time and look for all of the benefits you received in that moment. (Use “positive benefits” to balance your perceived “negatives” until are certain there were equal benefits as drawbacks to that action/in-action.) People who wish they were given all they want in life haven’t thought it through... When you were infatuated with how wonderful something was e.g. someone did something wonderful for you, look for the drawbacks in that moment. (Use your “negative drawbacks” until you are certain there were as many drawbacks as “positive benefits”.) Love comes in all forms. All actions and in-actions, challenges and support, are an expression of universal/divine love. Universal love has the agenda of helping us become resilient, learn, grow and transform. Look back 500 years to how people lived and compare it to how we live today. The evolution has occurred through people overcoming challenges not through being given all they want whenever they want it. We will always have problems to solve as we are designed to solve problems! Transformation is the only constant. When young children are challenged, they develop resilience and leadership skills. When they are over-indulged, they are kept juvenile and dependent. If children are over-protected at home, they will attract challenges at school or in the street. Even though this concept may be very challenging at times, it is the most empowering way to view the world as it helps us appreciate that life is meant to be about achieving what is important to us and at the same time help humanity evolve. I love this definition of “love” that was written by a 16 year old student during one of our Optimum Thinking workshops we presented in London. The words you choose to say to yourself create your perception of yourself. How you speak to yourself is a reflection of the meanings you are making in your mind and this creates emotional reactions in your system. The only time you should criticize yourself is with the awareness you are doing so to help you improve your results in a specific context. When you use universal labels about yourself (or others) e.g. “bully”, “good person”, “dumb”, “I always do the right thing”, etc you are lying to yourself and creating exaggerated reactions as you are ignoring where and when the opposite is true. Try this tip: When you catch yourself thinking you are “dumb”, ask yourself “Where, when and in what specific situation have I demonstrated I am intelligent (the opposite) to someone?” Your mind has the answer if you care to hear the answer. If you know you have worked hard and done what it takes to achieve a meaningful goal, then by all means high-5 yourself and say words of gratitude to yourself. It’s when you either beat yourself down or puff yourself up excessively by using repeated polarized statements; you create emotional imbalance in your system. The final steps of creating healthy, balanced actionable change is to implement your plan and consciously track your performance.⁠ What metrics will you use to assess your success?⁠ For example, if you are wanting to do more reading in a specific area you want to improve, track how many pages you read each day. ⁠ ⁠ Once you have sustained your change for a few months and intend to maintain it long-term, schedule in some periodical checks to be sure you have not fallen back into un-resourceful habits. Ask someone you trust to be your accountability partner and check in monthly. Put reminders into your calendar to review your results. ⁠ ⁠ If you are working on health goals book regular visits to your current health provider. If you are working on your personal developments, book courses well ahead of time to avoid less important things getting in the way. ⁠ Once you are achieving the results your desire for a sustained period, you will have no desire to return to unhealthy behaviors and will have the confidence that they will not relapse unless you have a major life change. When major life changes occur, it is really important to reassess all areas of your life and reset your life compass and goals.

We all have moments when we regret something we have done. We sometimes wish we had done something differently ... if we could only go back, hit delete, and start over. We can't change the event, but we can change our perception of the event and the part we played in it. Think about moments when someone did something similar to what you perceive you did. Then list all of the benefits, advantages, and learnings you received from that event occurring. For example, who supported you at that moment, who did you go to for support, what did you learn, and did it improve your emotional or physical resilience? Look in all areas of life and keep finding benefits until you perceive the benefits equal the drawbacks. Finally, look again at the event you perceived you did something wrong and find the benefits to the person you feel you "hurt". We all attract people who play the role of Double Agents of the Universe into our lives.
