“Hocam Söbütay Özer” . 24.Mart.2007 Cumartesi günü aramızdan ayrılmıştı. 17 sene olmuş... Hala dün gibi. Özlüyorum. İnsanlığını, kibarlığını, değer verişini, resim yapışını, hem mesafeli hem samimi oluşunu... Üç gündür onu çizip çizip siliyorum. Hocam olduğu sürece resimlerimi ona göstermediğimde resimlerimin bittiğini hiç hissetmezdim. Hep yarım kalırmış gibi gelirdi. Hayatımız boyunca yüzlerce, binlerce insan tanırız ama bizi değerli hissettirenleri asla unutmayız. Sadece 1,5 sene tanıdım onu, bu bir yas değil aksine bir sevinç, onu tanımasaydım resimlerim gibi ben de eksik kalırdım. Hatta onu kaybettikten sonra kaybettiklerim için üzülmeyi bırakıp her anın kıymetini bilmeyi daha çok öğrendim. "Resim gece gidilen bir yol gibidir. Arabamızın farları yolu ne kadar aydınlatıyorsa o kadarını görürüz. Ondan sonra karşımıza ne çıkacağını sadece düşleriz. O anda göremeyiz ama ilerledikçe her şey ortaya çıkar." demiş. Bu cümlelerini okuduğumda ben de ona cevaben "Sizin arabanızın farlarını görmeseydim kendi arabamın farlarını açmaya cesaret edemezdim" cümlelerini yazmıştım ve 24 Kasım Öğretmenler Gününde bir hediyeyle birlikte bu cümleleri yazıp ona verecektim. O seneki 24 Kasım'da o çoktan aramızdan ayrılmıştı. O gün bu gündür sevdiğim kim varsa yüzüne hemen söylerim. Beni mutlu edenlere bana hissettirdiklerini hemen belirtirim. “Çiçeklenmek” . Hiç vazgeçer mi ağaç çiçek açmaktan ya da çiçekler ağaçsız olur mu? Her sene Mart ayı aynıdır. Hava birden ısınır, ağaçlar çiçeklenir ama hava tekrar soğur. Yine de ne ağaç çiçeklenmekten vazgeçer ne de çiçekler ağacı bırakır. Hep inandım eğer bir şey olmuyorsa daha iyisi olacağındandır. Bu kez inanmayacağım, anlayacağım, kabul edeceğim, günüme devam edeceğim. Ben ne bir ağacım ne de dallarım çiçek dolu. Benim yerim yok, yokluğumun da boşluğu. Ben bir resimim resimlerim de ben.
