The Navajo Nation, also known as Navajoland, is a Native American reservation of Navajo people in the United States. It occupies portions of northeastern Arizona, northwestern New Mexico, and southeastern Utah. It is one of the largest Native American tribes in the US. 2. Joe, a dedicated Navajo guide from the Monument Valley, Arizona, works to preserve their culture, language, and traditions for future generations. 'We need to transfer our heritage to the Navajo youth. As they are exposed to use English outside the home, it's easy for kids to lose familiarity with Navajo and our culture,' he says. 'á'áhwiinít'ı̨́ 💞 kindness • • • • Marsha, the puppy with the broken back leg, stayed at Moab Vet until she was better. Then we boarded her so she could go straight to her rescue! A lovely lady @deryaensoleil volunteered to pickup and drive Marsha to her rescue on her way back to Denver. We were sad we couldn't say goodbye but everyone that had met Marsha showered her with so much love, we were happy. Marsha's new rescue @circle2rescue found her a foster to continue her recovery and she is absolutely thriving! We don't have the best luck placing any medical dogs we get so it was such a relief for Marsha to go straight to her rescue from the Vet. Marsha is a very sweet, gentle puppy, she'll touch many hearts for sure! • • • Marsha's vet bill totaled to $1,900 and we were able to pay from our recent fundraiser. So the Zombie Killer went to Las Vegas, for a week but on the way home we had to take a detour through the Navajo Nation. There was a train that had derailed at the Arizona - New Mexico border off I40. The train was carrying gas or fuel and exploded. I was not about to drive to Phoenix then to Las Cruces, NM then take I25 back up north to Santa Fe, that would have been over 18 hrs on the road. But our Northern NM instinct kicked in and I knew there was a way home through either Zuni Pueblo or the Navajo Nation. So we went left so we could get to Gallup, NM, and saw some beautiful tribal lands. Much respect to the people of the Navajo Nation for allowing many many cars and huge trucks to travel through their lands. We saw wild horses and colorful mountains but I didn't stop too much because I believe that their lands are to be respected and I felt these views should only be a memory in my head. It also rained and snowed the entire way home which was really nice. Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren celebrates Navajo entrepreneurship during Cavesa’s Car Wash, Inc. expanded business site lease signing ceremony WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. – In a special signing ceremony yesterday, Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren renewed a business site lease for Cavesa’s Car Wash, Inc., and celebrated the small business’s contribution to the Tuba City and surrounding communities. Operated by Debbie Martinez, the Navajo-owned business plans to expand with a much-needed laundromat under its new lease. President Nygren learned about Martinez’s entrepreneurial drive and discussed support for Navajo entrepreneurs. “You inspire me,” President Nygren said. “You built your business to meet a clear need of the Navajo people.” Martinez and her husband shared the origin of her business and emphasized the drive to contribute to her home community. That was more than 30 years ago, following her college graduation. She aimed to create a successful business and set a positive example for her children and the community. Present at the ceremony were Principal Economic Development Specialist Genevieve Keetso-Bighorse of the Western Regional Business Development Office and Business Regulatory Department Manager Notah Silversmith. Keetso-Bighorse said the signing ceremony was a special moment that recognized the work of promoting local business development. She remarked that in more than 30 years of working at the Division of Economic Development, the ceremony was the first she was invited to for a development project she took on in her position. The President praised Martinez’s dedication as a business owner and lauded the Western RBDO and DED’s collaboration in shortening the administrative side of the business site leasing process from years to months under the Nygren Administration. #navajo #navajonation #economicdevelopment
