Some say if you do what you love, then you’ll never work a day in your life. What we do is not easy, and it isn’t cheap, but it remains our passion. And even today few things make us happier than seeing some of our rescued koi fish enjoying their new forever homes. Since 2008 our dedicated team of volunteers has completed hundreds of large koi rescues throughout CA, NV, and AZ while successfully finding new homes for literally thousands of precious living jewels entrusted to our care. For more than a dozen years, our rescued koi fish were rehomed exclusively to new proper koi pond builds constructed by our supporting pond builders. This all changed in 2020, when the COVID pandemic brought new pond construction to a halt. So out of necessity, we decided to host our very first koi adoption event – making our rescued koi fish available direct to private hobbyists for the very first time. While we have experienced some growing pains over the past 3 years, it has also been our sincere pleasure to meet so many koi keepers who share our passion for this all-encompassing hobby. A lot of extremely hard work goes into each of our special hosted koi adoption events. Many of our valued customers choose to adopt koi from us expressly because they cannot afford to purchase comparable large koi fish direct from a dealer. We embrace this reality, and we do our very best to keep our rehoming fees as low as possible while also trying to maintain a level of fairness to every customer who schedules an appointment to attend regardless of their appointment time. An effective rehoming fee of just $33 USD is required for most large/jumbo koi fish made available to approved private hobbyists during our events. This effective rehoming fee reflects the average USD amount paid by a private hobbyist for all koi adopted during an event after accepted “free koi” quantity discounts (3 koi / $100 = $33). We commonly promote these offerings for “$50 each or 3 for $100.” All koi adoptions take place on a first come, first served basis and we will not hold specific koi for any customers. By definition, a koi dealer is someone in the “business” of selling koi fish. As a nonprofit animal rescue, our “mission” is to find suitable new forever homes for the living creatures entrusted to our care.
