Some sad news Deliveroos 🥺 Our little Angel deteriorated yesterday. She went to stay with Auntie Diane who cuddled her in and kept her warm until she slipped away to join her siblings. She knew Evie was waiting for her so she wasn’t scared. She’s buried in Auntie Diane’s garden next to Mojo, another Deliverance baby who’ll never grow old 💔 So there we go, the sad tale of five tiny kittens who never stood a chance. There were the result of brother and sister mating which left them with problems that clearly weren’t compatible with life. Balancing the emotional toll of bearing witness to animal suffering alongside the demands of securing funds can engender a sense of overwhelming helplessness. This can translate into elevated stress levels, sleep disruptions, and potential declines in overall mental wellness. The cumulative impact of prolonged financial strains can lead to chronic stress, which subsequently reverberates through mental and physical health. Studies show that animal rescue workers contending with prolonged stress may encounter elevated rates of depression, anxiety disorders, and even post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The emotional toll resonates akin to the burden of vicarious trauma – the emotional weight born from exposure to traumatic narratives and circumstances. The Journal of Social Work Education underscores that animal rescue workers frequently grapple with elevated stress levels, often exacerbated by financial concerns. A separate investigation published in the Occupational Medicine Journal reveals that animal shelter personnel contend with heightened stress in comparison to the general populace. 2 kittens uit park gered.. Op een avond waren mensen lekker aan het tennissen bij Tennispark Welgelegen in Rijswijk, totdat zij ineens luid gemiauw hoorden uit de boom achter de velden in het park Schoonoord. Zij zagen in de boom een jonge kat die in paniek was en op de grond zat nog een jong katje, doodsbang in elkaar gedoken. De melders hebben de kat uit de boom kunnen lokken. Onze ambulancechauffeur John heeft de andere jonge kat weten te vangen. Beide katjes waren handtam, maar wel doodsbang. De katjes, ongeveer vier maanden oud, waren allebei aan de magere kant. De kittens zijn naar dierenasiel ‘t Julialaantje gebracht, waar ze samen gezellig in een mandje gingen liggen. Vanuit daar zullen de katjes een betere plek krijgen. Ze waren niet gechipt. Glücklicherweise konnte sich eine griechische Pflegestelle für sie finden, so dass nun alle erst einmal sicher untergebracht werden konnten.🙏🏼 Blackie ist ein junger und aufgeschlossener #Rüde, der sich ausgeglichen und sehr freundlich zeigt. Mit den anderen Hunden spielt er sehr gerne, kann sich aber auch gut alleine beschäftigen. Er liebt es zu kuscheln und entspannen,🥰 manchmal kommt jedoch auch der „wilde Kerl“ in ihm durch und er hat seine verrückten 5 Minuten. Blackie ist ein aufgeweckter und auch kluger kleiner Kopf, der gerne gefordert werden will, aber sicherlich in der späteren #Erziehung auch (s)einen Sturkopf zeigen kann. The bond with a horse is something that is incomparable. They don’t forget you. They’re always happy to see you. They read your mind… and your soul. Their vulnerability calls us forth…. Into a connection that is deeper than any we have ever experienced. When I began learning about the slaughtering of American horses, I wanted to believe that it was a footnote… not a large problem. Yet even if it happened to these amazing and trusting creatures at all it would still be an atrocity….. What is shocking is that well over 100,000 American horses are slaughtered every year in Canada and Mexico. I like to believe that there is a disconnect between humans and the food that they consume, a convenient disassociation from the living being that preceded their meal, and if they only knew, they’d reconsider what they ate… With education could we get one another to consider the lives extinguished, the herd binds, and human ones, the voice of the animals who cannot speak for themselves? These horses need our help. They cannot defend themselves against a predator they don’t know… They allow us in. They open up their hearts. They trust us. Can we really fail them like this?

Upon assessment we found he was dehydrated, had a skin disease and had a tick on his paw. 🐾 . Where do I even begin when it comes to Pluto? Pluto was dealt a super unfair hand when it came to his puppyhood. At some point his leg was fractured and never properly cared for, he was shot with a BB which is still lodged in his stomach and he has metal shrapnel in his back leg. You would think that a pup that was put through as much as he went through would harbor some horrible feelings towards the human race, but from the minute we met Pluto it has been nothing but joy, kisses and sunshine. He was found with his buddy Ellie and at first we thought they needed to stay together, but as Ellie’s confidence grew and she really blossomed, we realized it was in their best interest to seperate. Ellie has found an amazing home with a wonderful family that will love her and give her an amazing life. Now, Pluto is looking for his happily ever after!! He is a 45 lb, approx 1 yr. old, mix of some wonderful magical dog breeds that is neutered, microchipped and vaccinated! He will need no special care as of now, but will probably need some help with arthritis down the road. He runs, fetches, plays and doesn’t let anything stop him! Our resident Albino Wallaby, Ally, has had a baby boy. The kids in our after school program had a naming contest and the winning name is George Hoppington. Welcome to the world George! Here at the rescue/sanctuary, the wallabies are the only animals we let have babies on purpose. We didn’t think the first two wallabies we had (Matilda and Rocco) could have babies because Rocco was sick. When they did have a baby, we discovered how happy they became with their growing family. Like us, wallabies are social and like to be with their families and friends. They are all very happy with the new addition, George.
