People don't buy products. They buy feelings and outcome. Think about anything you have ever bought. You were either convinced you needed it to help solve a problem, OR you wanted it because it was going to make you feel good/happy and so on. So, why do you need to know this? Well, if you want to make sales and grow your business, this is going to really help you stand out. You need to be speaking to the RIGHT customers in the RIGHT way. For example, let's say I am selling baby milestone cards. I need to SPEAK to my audience. I could just put a post up with the cards on offer - but think about how much more effective the below examples of content would be; "First Year Journey Collage": Share an image of a completed baby milestone card set, showcasing the progression from the early days to the first year. Add a caption like, "Every smile, every step, every milestone - cherish them all with our Baby Milestone Cards." "Letters to My Future Self": Create a video or image series showing parents writing notes to their child for the future, alongside the corresponding milestone card. The caption could read, "Capturing moments, creating memories, and writing love letters for tomorrow." "Transformation Tuesday": Post a series of pictures side by side - one from the newborn stage and one from a recent milestone. Add a caption like, "From tiny toes to big adventures, every moment is a milestone worth celebrating." "Time-lapse of Milestones": Create a time-lapse video showcasing the progression of a baby's milestones. Add a caption like, "Watch as our little one conquers every milestone, one beautiful step at a time." "Story Behind the Milestone": Share a personal story about a significant milestone, paired with the corresponding card. Add a caption like, "Every milestone has a story. Share yours with us and let's celebrate together." After reading through the examples, think about whether you would be more likely to buy the milestone cards from a business showcasing them in this way, as opposed to a business that just shows a photo of the cards. If you struggle with perfectionism then you are probably making tasks way harder than they need to be so that you can continue to justify the fact that you are just too busy and you have so much to do and your prints and product photos and descriptions need to be perfect before you release them because people won't buy them otherwise. Did you know I spent around 3-4 years wanting to start this membership? That's right - that is how long I spent on thinking about doing this - but not actually doing it. I would spend endless hours doing a whole lot of nothing - before giving up on the idea and jumping to the next thing. Do you find yourself giving up on things quickly? Jumping from task to task? Have you dived into the Prints Academy but are already starting to wonder if you should just pursue something else? Because this stuff takes time, and consistency, and if you are REALLY honest with yourself, that is probably the thing that has been holding you back. Ask yourself this - when was the last time you actually committed to a new project, habit, business, for more than 3 months and actually put consistent time and effort into it? When I changed my mindset, it took me just 2 weeks to create a full membership site and I generated 20 members in that time. Imagine where this membership would be if I had just stayed committed to it all them years ago? The good news is, you can choose to do things differently now. Here are my top tips for managing these feelings; Self coaching - Seriously this is something that works with practice and something I am going to be talking about more in the membership. Accountability - Utilise the co work sessions available in the membership. These will help you stay on task and focused, ensuring you move forward every week. Give new ideas AT LEAST 3-6 months of you working at them before you jump ship. Create a 'someday shelf'. This is a shelf where I put all the things I want to do SOMEDAY. All the great ideas, they all go down in my notebook onto the someday shelf. One of the things that pretty much all of my members have been struggling with is choosing a business name. I totally get it, it's HARD. You want to get it right, you want to be sure it's the right name. That's exactly why I developed this new ebook for my members! Essentially it gives you a list of words that are versatile and can be used to make up a business name. One of my founding members has actually used this and gone from struggling with a business name, to now having too many ideas! I am so happy it's been able to help. Here are a couple of tips for choosing your business name; Brainstorm - literally make a list of all of the words you associate with your business. Even if you think they are silly just write all your ideas down. One of them might just generate a good idea for you. Use a business name generators - whilst I don't necessarily think these are amazing - they can sometimes give you some ideas. Ask friends, family and people online. You will be so surprised at what people come up with - In fact some of my members have chosen names that other members have come up with when they have asked for help in my VIP members only group. I also find kids are great at coming up with business names. Take a walk in a shopping centre - look at all the business names, it might just give you some inspiration. Use my business name finishers! So how do you get that first sale? Here are a couple of my top tips; The first thing you need to do is make sure your customers have the means of making an order. It is no use promoting your products if your customer has no way of buying them. Follow the guidance inside the Prints Mastery course and get your Etsy store up and running. Start sharing your creations with friends and family, ask them to share your posts and your page. Ask them to join your page. Post your makes in your local facebook group. Join facebook selling groups and scour them looking for customers asking for YOUR items. Comment on those posts with your makes. Offer discounts and introductory prices. The first 5 customers get the 'tester' slot for you and they get it at a heavily discounted rate. The reason we use the word tester slot is so that your customers understand this is a huge discount for a reason and is not going to be the actual price of the product once those tester slots have gone. You don't want to set yourself up with a massively underpriced product that isn't making any money. Cover your costs for your tester slots and make them as cheap as you can - but limit the amount of tester slots you have available. I would go for between 3-5. One of the best pieces of advice I can give you in the beginning is that you have to shift your focus from making money, to generating credibility, return customers, gaining reviews. So price your prints as low as you can as 'tester' slots. Follow up people who have bought from you, engage in conversation with them, build relationships, ask them to leave you a review - offer them a discount on their next order. Tell them your story, tell them you're just starting out, ask them if they are happy with their order to share it for you. You will have to put the work in to generate the traffic and sales in the beginning. Over time, your etsy store will run itself and generate orders without you putting any work in. When I started my prints business, I genuinely intended on it just being a little extra income to pay a few debts off, maybe contribute to things like Christmas. I never could have dreamed that it would become the success it has. My prints business has allowed me to do things I never would have dreamed possible. It has allowed me to provide my family with memories that will last a lifetime. It has allowed me to buy my dream home and much more. I am just a normal girl who was working the 9-5 on a mediocre wage. I had no design skills, no business knowledge and no spare cash to invest in a start up business. But you know what? Despite all of that - I did it. I genuinely believe that any of us can start a prints business. Whenever I used to see people who had made a huge success out of a business I used to think it would never happen to me. I'd think they probably just got lucky or they had parents who helped them out massively. But my story isn't like that. My story started when my dad lost his job through being run over and becoming disabled. I watched my parents panic and worry about how they were going to pay the mortgage now that their main income had disappeared. I watched my amazing mum start her own little sideline to pay the mortgage and I got inspired. I started my business to help my parents, to earn a bit of extra income. I never could have dreamed it would become what it has. But that is exactly why I want to help you to do the same thing. If you can master the SEO and get your prints seen, you are sure to see success. ⭐ Your own website This is probably the best place to sell your prints as you are in full control of your own website and you're not at the mercy of social media giants who can shut down your pages in a heartbeat if they choose to! However, selling on your own website is also probably one of the most difficult places to sell. You'll need to master the art of driving traffic to your website I have learnt that it's important to have more than one stream of income for your prints business, especially if you are currently reliant on social media. I was desperate to earn some extra income following my dad being hit by a car at 50mph and my parents losing the majority of their income (his wage) overnight. My dad never went back to work again. My parents were worried about how they were going to pay the mortgage. I had to do something, and so I started a prints business. I had no knowledge, no prior business experience and to be quite honest I had barely ever touched a printer in my life. However, I worked at my business consistently before it became what it is today - a full time income. I recently had my first 7k month, something I once could only have dreamed of. People are always asking me how I did it. I am not going to pretend to you that this is a get rich quick scheme because it isn't (and trust me they don't work!!). However, what I can tell you is that if you put your mind to it, you can also create a successful business that you can take as far as you want.
