Sometimes God gives us a little moment of surprise, an expected awareness of God at work within us or in our lives. As Sr. Joan Chittister says, "The purpose of surprise is to give us the chance to rethink first impressions, recreate old ideas, and renew a well-worn faith."
Blessed are those whose families won’t accept them, for they will be welcomed in the family of God. Blessed are those who are afraid to come out, for they will be comforted by the God who knows their heart. Blessed are those who protest for equal rights, for they will show us how to be modern-day prophets. Blessed are those who don’t know what bathroom to go into, for they will know that God is greater than any box our human minds create. Blessed are those who change their names or pronouns, for they are living the baptismal life of dying to our old selves and rising anew. Blessed are those who know their heart, even when everyone else is telling them to be someone else, for they are made in the image of God.
Day 6: Protection. Those with mental health difficulties are often victims of exploitation, abuse, and crime. When severely depressed, there is an increased possibility that they will try to harm themselves. When in the grip of mania or psychosis, there may be increased aggression or high-risk behaviors. Join friends and families in praying that God would surround their loved ones with His angels. Pray He would direct them to places and people who are safe and caring. This evening the Collective confirmed Desmond Gregory Bullard. Desi affirmed the promises made on his behalf at baptism and committed himself to living a life dedicated to Christ. He also told a beautiful faith story—a story about loving mentors and peers who were witnesses to Christ through their kindness and their presence. When Desi thinks about God, he thinks about philanthropy. He thinks about the gifts God has given him and how he is called to give. Day 4: Healing. Although there is no medical cure for most severe mental health conditions, there is always a spark of hope within supporters that their loved ones will be healed. But there are deeper reasons, including a desire for belonging behind that. As Christians, we know God can and does bring God’s supernatural healing to many. Therefore, we never stop asking God to intervene and touch our loved ones. Essentially, every invitation to wait for God is also an invitation to experience grief. Things are not as they should be - so that is why we have to wait. Dr. Joanne Cacciatore is a specialist in traumatic bereavement. She writes this about the need to sit in our grief and not rush through it: We can’t rush to meaning. We need to stay in the middle of the fire, the center of our pain, long enough for it to transform. This is where fierce compassion is born. In today's Gospel reading from John 15:1-8, Jesus describes himself as the "true vine" and his followers as his "branches." Like a grape vine, we are connected to Jesus, our source of life, who works in us and through us to bear the fruits of love, mercy, and compassion in the world.
It stands out to me today how in the Old Testament it talks of how God wants to satisfy us, He wants what’s best for us & that is actually what’s righteous too in accordance with His Ten Commandments re-emphasised by Jesus in the New Testament. I have seen myself that this is true in my own life how God has delivered me from troubles into fulfilment & it reminds me of this song “stormy weather” because God can maintain us through any storm if we turn to Him! “Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing. The Lord is righteous in all of his ways, and holy in all his works.” Psalms 145:16 “He saith unto him, Which?
