Queensland. My mission to try #Australianwhisky took me to White Lies Brewing II in Seventeen Mile Rocks, Western Brisbane, as I’d heard they had an #australiansinglemalt. I tried the brewery's first whisky release, Ginesis Whisky, from their pale ale distilled & laid down in 2020, 2yrs 9ms in a #singlecask French oak barrel that previously held red wine, Prieto Picudo from @hiddencreekwine on the Granite Belt, Queensland (45%). I also tried a very tasty beer, their Vanilla Espresso Imperial Stout at a mighty 10%. I have had a tasty couple of weeks exploring some great Australian whiskies, tonight is another far North Queensland drop. Just 370klm up the road is @mtuncledistillery the home of Watkins Whisky Co. The small batch whisky is aged in an interesting mish mash of barrels, French red wine staves and the heads of American Bourbon barrels. Plenty of dried fruit on the nose, butterscotch flavours and a spicy finish, another well balanced far North Queensland gem. I am trying to take my whisky appreciation to the next level. This Elevation single malt whisky from Wild River Mountain Distillery should do the trick.
