Today a solid whisky from the tasting evening. the Jura 12 years matured in bourbon casks and finished in Oloroso sherry casks. with 40% Alc. filled. Nose: Chocolate & citrus notes. Taste: traces of licorice & bananas. Finish: mild, slightly spicy and a little smoky. The Jura distillery is the only one on the island of Jura and was founded in 1810. In the 1960s the distillery was extensively renovated and rebuilt. 6 stainless steel washbacks and 4 large stills are operated. they are the second highest in Scotland. Jura is Norwegian and means red deer. There are cs of these. 5000 red deer but only 212 people live there. Die 5te Auflage reifte zunächst für knapp sechs Jahre in Bourbonfässern und anschließend für weitere 36 Monate in Pinot Noir Spätburgunderfässern des Weinguts Reichsrat von Buhl. The Secret Series No.3 From Vintage Bottlers The Secret Series No.3. A single cask age 32 years and at bottled at 52.1% ABV As the name suggests, there is no mention of the distillery on the label. However, the coordinates are known from the Distillery: 55.6301° N, 6.1522° W and I am owner of a Tiny Plot a square foot Of Islay in this field. Nose: rich smoke, soil, iodine smell of the sea, tar o yes this is La... uuuhh good Palate: fruity citrus, salty, caramel toffee, ashy smoke, sensationally balanced Finish: long and a nice mouth coating (oily and intense), long ashy finish and somewhere in the background are creamy notes – toffee. When you know that you will be sent a few samples but don’t know which ones, and then you open the box and then, among the other samples, found this. Then 😳your jaw drops and your heart skips a beat🤩. What an amazing experience it is to taste such a world-class whisky. Never expected that I would ever get to taste one this old. What else should I say?
