Definitely my most painful weekend but I claim the title as the BMF of karting. After suffering an injury in practice yesterday I didn’t look like I was going to race today but I wanted the points so I raced anyway and fought through the pain. Heat 1: 20th. Got tangled up when going for an overtake and went over someone which hurt even more. Heat 2: 20th. The pain got too much so held back a bit to save energy for finals. Heat 3: dnf Finals: 14th Would’ve been better if I didn’t suffer from injury Saturday but still got a decent result in the final. could’ve been better. Há exatos 4 anos, perdíamos Sir Stirling Crawford Moss. Moss competiu na chamada era de ouro da Fórmula 1, em que ainda corriam pilotos como Juan Manuel Fangio e Alberto Ascari. O piloto britânico é considerado por muitos o melhor piloto a não vencer um campeonato na Fórmula 1. Ele foi quatro vezes consecutivas vice-campeão mundial, de 1955 a 1958. Em 1958, uma atitude de desportivismo, em Portugal, viria a impedi-lo de conquistar o título de campeão da F1 no final dessa época. Moss venceu o Grande Prémio de Portugal de 1958, no Porto, mas no final ilibou Mike Hawthorn, que tinha sido desclassificado, por ter feito uma inversão de marcha em plena pista. O testemunho do piloto britânico permitiu que o compatriota terminasse a prova no segundo posto, o suficiente para que, no final da temporada, Hawthorn se sagrasse campeão, com um ponto de vantagem sobre Moss. Moss venceu 194 de suas 497 corridas entre 1948 e 1962, incluindo 16 grandes prêmios de Fórmula 1, nenhum outro piloto venceu tanto sem ser campeão. Foi, também, o primeiro britânico a vencer um GP em seu próprio país. Em 1962 Moss ficou ferido num acidente em Goodwood dirigindo um Lotus. Ficou inconsciente por um mês e paralisado por seis. Recuperou e fez uma tentativa prematura de voltar, mas não se adaptou e decidiu aposentar-se. Continuou a correr com carros históricos. Aposentou-se somente em 2011, aos 81 anos. Há exatos 95 anos anos, nascia o campeão mundial de Fórmula 1, John Michael Hawthorn (Mexborough, Reino Unido). Hawthorn foi campeão mundial de Fórmula 1 em 1958 pela Ferrari e foi vencedor da trágica 24 Horas de Le Mans de 1955 a bordo do Jaguar D-Type com Ivor Bueb como companheiro. Infelizmente acabou ganhando uma notoriedade negativa ao comemorar com grande ênfase pela vitória após a grande tragédia ocorrida naquela edição da prova em La Sarthe. Após a conquista do título da F1 em 1958 pela Ferrari, Hawthorn anuncia sua retirada das pistas de forma precoce pois tinha apenas 28 anos de idade à época. Infelizmente teve pouco tempo para curtir o grande título, pois em em 22 de janeiro de 1959, Hawthorn morreu num acidente automobilístico na estrada A3 na passagem de Guildford. Ele tinha 29 anos de idade. Relatos da época informam que Hawthorn teria pouco tempo de vida, pois sofria de graves problemas renais, onde já havia retirado um de seus rins e ou outro já estaria gravemente comprometido.
