Ulu and Milo hiked their first NH 52 with a view by hiking up Mt. Willard. The trail was still mostly snow covered aside from a few points. We continued working recall training and leashed up when needed. They liked to explore the summit. Milo was brave and ventured close to the edge a few times but Ulu wasn't going close. Ulu felt it was better to rest in (and eat) the vegetation. Fun hike with the Margs today, Barcelo Falls near Keremeos, BC. It was a 8 km round trip and Margaux was fantastic negotiating a number of steam crossings that would have given her trouble in the past. We weren't aware that the geese had migrated back already, when opting for a coastal walk by the grass fields. What an interesting outing, being kilometers away from home and realizing (both us and Aleu at the same time) that we're surrounded by hundreds of birds. Our reaction: oh no. Aleu's reaction: oh yes! Freetown Frolic Dryland Race day! Despite pretty minimal training since I got back from Alaska, Wolfy completed the course like a champ, and held close to her PR pace. So proud of her. Amazing day hike we did last summer during our camping trip to Waterton NP, the Carthew-Alderson hike from Cameron Lake to Cameron Falls. Summary of the hike up on dad's blog @bootwreckers, see link in bio. This was our biggest hike of the year at just under 20km and is Margaux's longest hike to date. To accomplish the point to point hike we utilized a shuttle operate by The Tamarack, @tamarack_outdoors_ The day was a little hot and there was a lack of shade on parts of the trail due to the massive Kenow Wildfire of 2017. A little late for a February round up, but life has been a bit crazy! February was full…full of safaris, full of people, full of dogs and full of new experiences. 1 - Thunder 💙 ( 📷 @nele_fricke ) 2 - Starsky ( 📷 @nele_fricke ) 3 - 2 of our 8 month old girls 4 - a bit of sunshine after a week of grey skies and snowy days 5 - the boots waiting patiently during a coffee break 6 - Yukon and Uzi, our biggest and smallest dogs have become best friends 😅 7 - my first (and hopefully last) IV placement (that I got first try). Solfrid had a pretty bad infection and we have worked tirelessly to get her back on her feet during what has been a slow recovery. Been far too long since I got my hiking boots on, and wee Pan man loved a lovely sunny hike in the Peaks one on one time. He doesn't get so much attention in working season being retired so this is where I make it up to him. He coped really well, his first decent hike since his old man vet check and adding antinflamatories to his day to day. Amazing day on the trail last Sunday as Margaux took me up to Taylor Lake. The second photo is Margaux beside the Parks Canada sign which is usually around 5ft high. The sky was super blue and the sun was very warm. We had our lunch on top of the picnic table, there is a lot of snow at Taylor Lake. It was a great early season warm up for some big hikes this summer.
