Moved from home to shelter, and shelter to foster, and now back to shelter, we have grown to love this boy dearly! Young and spirited and absolutely adorable, we just wish he saw in himself what we all do... a forever friend! It is Alexander's preference, after all he's been through, to be an only animal. One on one attention with someone that will reassure him that he is safe and secure, and most importantly loved! Alex wants to go on car rides, play in the water, play with his toys, and is ready for action at any point in the day. Day 9 Growing up so fast. Eating very well , gaining strength and becoming increasingly curious. The little one in the video is Popper, who now has an insistance on coming up to give my cheek or my nose a quick cleaning before cuddling back up into my robe with his brothers and sisters. Even the smallest of them takes up my whole hand- excluding the tail- and they're all very sweet and affectionate. Going to make excellent grown Oppossums when the time comes. Please know the success in raising these littles comes from LOADS of research and years of experience in helping wildlife. If you find babies this season, reach out to your local rehabbers. Even if they are at capacity and cannot take them in, usually they will be able to give you solid pointers and walk you through what to do and what to expect. Well if this isn’t a HALLELUJAH moment, we don’t know what is. You might remember these girls, Maria and Olivia, and their siblings. This child-headed household was discovered in Uganda during Covid - their parents had died, and the oldest two, Maria and Olivia (twins) were raising their five younger siblings (Fiona, Charlotte, Stella, George, and baby Leo) on their own. You all rallied back then and your generous support was enough to build them a house and pay for a small plot of land to put it on. These children had been through so very much, and our village became their glue. Because the girls were too young to properly care for baby Leo, our partners placed him in a loving foster family at the time, and his siblings were able to visit with him often, thankfully. We have continued to cover their school fees all this time and have stood in the gap for this child-headed household whenever necessary. But God wasn’t done, and at the end of February Leo was permanently reunited with his siblings and Maria and Olivia as his caretakers!! He’s 4 years old (soon to be five) now, and the girls are meeting all other family expenses through their hair dressing business!! Our partners are working with them on their parenting plan! FRIENDS, with your help, Leo was rescued from an orphanage as a baby, cared for in a foster family four almost four years, and has now been reunited with his siblings, FOREVER. We are committed to this sweet family and will be there to support them as long as we are able!!
