We will use this grant to help fund our Healthy Cooking Classes for All Ages at Vivalon in San Rafael. A decrease in physical activity and rise in nutrition insecurity, exacerbated by the pandemic, has coincided with a simultaneous rise in diet-related diseases, and continues to impact both children and older adults. In these classes people of all ages will have fun learning how to cook delicious, healthy and affordable meals from fresh ingredients in order to protect their lifelong health. Assistance League® of Greater Placer is thrilled to announce a new $2,500 grant from the Save Mart CARES Foundation. We're grateful to Save Mart for assisting us with our noteworthy Operation School Bell School Clothing Program benefiting schoolchildren in Auburn. Since 1992, Assistance League’s school shopping program has provided opportunities for parents and their children in grades K-12 to shop for much-needed clothing and shoes. This program provides new school appropriate clothing to eligible children who are referred by school personnel. This grant underscores Save Mart’s commitment to building stronger communities through programs that support youth and help them thrive. We would also like to recognize store manager John Buckman for his role in supporting community projects and working with local nonprofits. We know we can count on John’s help and know that when he is able to stop by our local Auburn Target store partner, he will witness first-hand exactly how our program works and will see the happy faces of children and parents as they leave the store with new clothes, ready to start a new school year.
