Cider: Saxby’s Limited Edition Cider Alcohol Percentage: 6% Rating: 7.5/10 It’s been a while since my last review because I just haven’t gotten around to buying more cider but I did still have some of this Limited Edition Cider from @saxbys_cider. I picked this up in the food hall of my local garden centre along with their original cider which I have already reviewed. This has sat my drinks cabinet for a while until I finally gotten around to trying it. In the glass we have a still cider that has a nice golden colour. On the nose we have a rich aroma of apples that smells more onto the sweet side. The flavour is also quite nice. Right up front you get a nice strong rich flavour. On the front end you get a slight hint of dryness and sharpness with maybe a very very slight peppery spice to it but very subtle. It finishes off with a slightly stronger sweetness to finish off what I would describe an overall medium flavour. Has a nice body to it. I would say it’s in between thin and full. On a scale of 1-10 (1 being thin and 10 being full) I would say this is about a 6.5 or 7. I do prefer some subtle carbonation in my ciders but this is up there as one of the better still ciders I’ve tried. For me, a slight bit of carbonation and maybe a hint more dryness and this would be right up my street. Overall, a very nice still cider that I enjoyed very much with my Sunday roast. I prefer the past two ciders I’ve tried from Saxby’s but I still very much like this and I might grab some more when I next see it. 7.5/10

Cider: Saxby’s 3 Point 9 Cider Alcohol Percentage: 3.9% Rating: 9/10 I’ve known about @saxbys_cider for a while but haven’t tried any of their ciders yet. Here we have their 3 point 9 cider that is described as a thirst quenching cider that has a perfect balance of apple sweetness and delicate acidity. Light, drinkable and very moreish. Sounds right up my street. In the glass we have a light gold, crystal clear cider that starts with fast carbonation but it then soon calms down to gentle levels. It doesn’t have the strongest aroma but you do get a nice crisp fresh apple aroma with a mix of sweet and dry notes. The flavour is very nice. Crisp and fresh. Very refreshing and thirst quenching. Starts out sweeter that then smoothens out into a dry finish. I can also pick up a very slight acidic sharpness which I also really like. This is coating my palette very well. Quite a light cider coming in at 3.9% which I don’t mind. I do like my stronger ciders but I also like weaker ciders and I could definitely session this, very moreish. The only issue I have is the strength of the flavour. It is stronger than the aroma but I would prefer it a little stronger. Would be interested what apples were used. It isn’t perfect but it is very very nice. Overall a very nice light cider that has a nice mix of dry, sweet and slight sharp acidic notes that all round off for a very drinkable and moreish cider. I would definitely session this with the abv only being 3.9%. If the overall flavour was a bit stronger then this would be perfect for me. 9/10

Embrace the end of the summer with these sweet treats - sunflowers and chocolate macadamia truffles. 🌻 Credit Chelsea.Co.nz for this yummy recipe: 🌻 Ingredients * 90g min 70% dark Chocolate 1 Tablespoon Caster Sugar 60g Butter 1 Egg Yolk 1 Teaspoon Cream 1/4 Cup Nutcellars Malawi Macadamia Nuts 3 Tablespoons Drinking Chocolate, Coconut or Cocoa Method 1 : Toast nuts in a moderate oven until golden. 2 : Melt the chocolate in a small bowl over hot water. Add the butter and Chelsea Caster Sugar and mix thoroughly. Remove from heat, add the egg yolk and stir in the cream. 3 : Chop the toasted nuts roughly and add to the chocolate mixture. Mix well and chill until firm. 4 : Shape into little balls, and roll each in drinking chocolate or coconut.
