The Rag 🍽 • Country Pub • Rawnsley • We came here for dinner recently as a large group, I didn't get pictures of all of the food, so will add a separate little list of what else was had. We all really enjoyed the food, most of us having 3 courses. The Cheese Fritter starter was amazing 😍 and the Lotus Biscoff Cheesecake was quite possibly one of the best cheesecakes we'd ever had 🤤 it was so good 2 people who originally didn't want dessert, ordered one for themselves after trying some! The food was fairly big portions, but it was so good that you didn't want to leave any. They brought out chips, potatoes, and vegetables to share, and there was more than enough for everyone. The service was a bit slow, especially drinks, as there was only one person on the bar, but it was okay as we weren't in a rush. Food we had that I didn't get a picture of but that everyone enjoyed: • Soup of the day (leek and potato) • Baked mushrooms • 16oz T-Bone Steak • 14oz Gammon Steak • 6oz Wagyu Burger I recommend booking as it can get busy. As there was a large group of us, we had to pay a deposit of £5 per person which was then taken off the bill at the end 😊 We also went for Sunday Lunch last month which was lovely and I'd definitely recommend 😍 it was £17.95 for one course, £22.95 for two courses & £26.95 for three courses. *AD* Well.... Not every day you get an invite to a place like @thenewvalleybishopston and oh, what a place it is!! Open and refurbed since December, if you like a village/country pub that's giving elevated, gastropub vibes then this is absolutely the place for you! The decor is lush for one..... Secondly, the food is baaaaanging 🙌🏻 All local produce (Big up Gower Butchers) lovingly cooked by owner Ryan and his team, we ordered the following - 🍤 Prawns wrapped in a katsu curried batter, served with curried mayo and seaweed salt 🐮 Saucy Cow pie - an award winning slow cooked steak and ale pie with confit carrots and parsnips. I swapped out mash for triple cooked chips (mash is the food of the devil) 🐮 Sirloin steak with bone marrow butter, triple cooked chips, mushroom, tomato and onion rings 🍲 Nasi Goreng with roasted vegetables (vegan and off Le Specials board) 🍰 Sticky toffee pudding, triple chocolate brownie, chantilly cream and Crème anglaise (all gluten frickin free mind!!) And all were stand out dishes..... In fact, it was impossible to pick a favourite! It was wonderful to see a menu that so easily caters for my vegan and gluten free King's and Queen's, and with dishes that are just as, if not more delicious than their meaty/gluteny (made up word for sure) counterparts..... Out-fricken-standing 🙌🏻 We enjoyed our meal so much, that my fellow diner felt over come with blogginess and wanted to say a few of their owns words.... And I quote .... "At The Valley, Ryan and his crew were outstanding from the moment of our arrival, the duration of our visit and right up until our departure.
