Finally, after a few days of hiking, we arrived on the Bascamp of the Mardi Himal trek. Suddenly we found in the hills a Shepard with many Yaks! We went in his tent and saw more then 20 baby Yaks 😍 We talked a little bit to the Shepard while we were drinking tea together. Sri Lanka is the second largest export country in the world for tea after Kenya. That‘s why there are tea plantations and workers everywhere over the island. I visited one of the largest tea factories in Sri Lanka and watched how tea is made. As simple as the process is, it is also brilliant! There are countries through which we travel and no particular connection to the country is built up. If you notice that, you should travel further. There are countries to which you can feel a special connection and it is worthwhile to find them! That's what happened with me in Iran. Absolutely wrongly we in Germany have a less good impression of Iran and that makes me very sad! I have met Iran as one of the friendliest countries I have ever visited. In the last 2 months I have met wonderful people who are helpful, understanding and extremely hospitable. Unprecedented! For every minute, hour and the days that I was allowed to spend here, I am extremely grateful! I was not afraid in any minute or was afraid for myself - against many claims! If you have an opinion of Iran and have never been to Iran, I believe you are missing something important to generate your opinion. Stop what the news believing, they reflect only a part of the truth. After I ran out of diesel in the mountains, I was stranded in a small mountain village. A family offered a tea, a next tea, then a dinner and a safe and warm sleeping place. I thankfully accepted everything and was glad to have company. The next morning I learned how to "make" vodka and produce amazingly delicious flatbread in seconds :) It's amazing how little these people get along and survive! As a gift, I got food for days and diesel, so that I can come to the next gas station. Even if I repeat myself, I just have to say it again. The hospitality and helpfulness of the people living here is incredible! I've been here in Doğubayazıt (Turkey) for 3 days, but I only wanted to stay for a few hours. I was always offered tea, helped me no matter what, given tips, was invited several times in the evening and for breakfast, was in the convoy to great places brought together and laughed a lot and entertain us splendidly. I am very happy to have met every one of these people here! Yesterday was actually a day free of work (as in Germany), but many have come to help me with Berta. Where do you still find such helpfulness in people? Together we got all problems with Berta fixed - also the heating works again! Yeah! Thank you so much! Thanks also to my father - he has clarified the most important questions with Facetime! 💪 They did not want any money .. they said "We do not take money from a brother!".
