Here is my #sirensongshawl by #trulymyrtledesigns posing brightly overlooking Oxford street in London ( thought I’d make the most of the time in a shop changing room while my daughter was trying literally everything on) To say I love it is an understatement. What started as a “ I don’t know what possessed me to buy this yarn to probabaly one of my most favourite things I’ve made ever. I find the colours go with lots of things in my wardrobe ( probabaly why I bought that yarn tbh) and I love how this pattern made the yarn really sing. It’s knitted from @mosaicmoonyarn bfl fingering with a 100% baby alpaca yarn bought from the @australian_alpaca company. Highly recommend this pattern by Truly Myrtle for those skeins of highly variegated yarns.

Completed #sirensongshawl by #trulymyrtledesigns the other day. I love using what I got so my yarn of choice was left overs from three (only required two colours but did not have enough of what I wanted to use so added a third colour in)projects I have knitted using #purplesproutingyarn - the blue is merino/silk ocean spray, the multicoloured is MSN in rusty cage and the orange is Bluefaced Leicester in after the gold. This is a really easy, quick and fun knit. The silk made it a very light shawl that can be worn on Summer evenings.

The fallout from storm arwen continues. After decamping at the weekend we've been really lucky to stay somewhere with power and water. My heart goes out to anyone who has been affected by the weather as some are still without any services, including phone services since Friday. The engineers have been working through atrocious conditions to restore power to thousands and I'm grateful that they do this essential job. I was going to be doing a fibre monday discount, but instead I'll donate 10% of all sales till the end of the month to Kincardine and Deeside Befriending charity that provides support to over 55s who may be be socially isolated. I supported this charity previously as part of the Yorkshire Yarn Festival. It’s a long time since I’ve posted and reasons for this abound. But I did just want to leave this photo here as I like to use my page as a visual diary. A reminder of things made and easily forgotten. Today was all about blocking. Tetris blocking. A little prayer was said and a spell muttered to bring luck and life to all that lay there on the blocking mats. A very therapeutic way to spend time. A treat for what’s been made, and for me too. A wash in heavenly scented soap, then a relaxing time stretched out slowly drying to the right shape.
