The Parts We Wish Would Go Away Do you have those parts that you wish weren’t there? The ones that are present at 3am, or when you are laying in bed trying to get to sleep? They’re generally not pretty or not as evolved as you think they should be. You would definitely not want anyone else to see these parts. Or you would only want them to see them once you have “healed and moved on” from them: the part that struggles with negative body image, the part that feels lonely or anxious, the part that worries about what other people who you don’t even like think of you. The part that, every year on your birthday, no matter what the age, doesn’t think this is where you should be. You might find it annoying that they are still here. Why don’t they just go away? Em 2020, comecei a minha carreira como escritora e lancei o meu primeiro livro: “SoulCollage®, uma valiosa ferramenta de autoconhecimento”, sobre um método pelo qual sou apaixonada e que continuo usando tanto em benefício próprio como também para ajudar os meus pacientes durante a sua terapia. O livro destina-se a todos que lidam com adolescentes, que querem ter relações mais saudáveis com eles e que desejam também ajudá-los a construir a sua vida com bases sólidas a fim de terem um futuro promissor, no qual se sintam felizes e realizados. No mês passado, foi lançado o livro: “Arteterapia para novos tempos”, do qual participei como coautora. O livro é uma edição comemorativa dos 25 da AARJ (Associação de Arteterapia do Rio de Janeiro). Trata-se de artigos teóricos e vivenciais, sobre o que há de mais novo na Arteterapia. O meu capítulo, escrito junto com a Ligia Diniz, é o da: “A criança interior”. Reconhecer, acolher e abraçar a nossa criança interior é essencial para o aumento da nossa criatividade, espontaneidade, intuição e renovação. Après une session particulièrement intense de constellation symbolique hier soir où une grande partie de ma lignée, bien présente dans mon dos, m’a demandée de regarder en face que je ne suis pas une victime de mon passé et que j’ai le choix d’arrêter de me raconter les histoires que je me suis construite. J’étais très inspirée pour créer une nouvelle carte pour mon deck personnel de SoulCollage® aujourd’hui. Je suis toujours aussi émerveillée de la profondeur et de l’acuité que cette méthode amène dans ma vie en m’aidant à être mon propre miroir (cette fois même littéralement!). Voici le message de cette nouvelle carte pour moi: « Je suis celle qui regarde dans le miroir et qui n’y voit que le reflet flou de mon passé. Je suis celle qui regarde mon reflet et qui voit à travers, comme à travers une vitre, car je regarde en réalité le paysage qui défile plutôt que le ce qui a besoin d’être vu. Using the expressive arts process of SoulCollage®, everyone becomes an instant artist! By experimenting with your imagination and intuition, and a few cut-out images, you can create your own deck of very personal wisdom cards to help you explore the wholeness of your Being. The process of collage will guide you to explore and understand your personal, complex being, leading to greater self acceptance and appreciation. No previous experience with collage or any other art form necessary! Char’s four-week course will focus on the four suits in a SoulCollage® deck, with each session being dedicated to a different suit. It’s so easy to make hard things like grief be about if-my-belly-were-just-smaller (fill in fantasy how life-wouldn’t be-hard-if here). Have you ever hated your belly? Stuffed yourself into spanx? Instead of trying to change your belly, what about listening to its wisdom? One of the many ways soulcollage(R) offers a doorway into discovery is when you make a card of a part of your self that you hate... and discover the profound wisdom it has to share. Here’s an example from “The Muffin Top” soulcollage card. The Muffin Top I am the one who has a real belly. The wisdom I have to offer you is: You can spend a LOT of time, money, and energy hating me. A lifetime! But here’s the thing: I am NOT THE PROBLEM. I am a beautiful muffin; I am a glorious cupcake. There are so many images in the world that don’t look like me and that makes me feel unloved, disgusting, ashamed. Those images tell me all kinds of crazy: Be smaller! Be flatter! Do this to be loved! Be big and full of yourself, until age seven, and then be flat and hungry! But don’t have any hunger. Look thin! Don’t get angry! Hide your intuition. Be attractive by Not Being Yourself! Don’t get stretched. If you get stretched, get sucked and stitched back in. Ugh. Those messages exhaust me. Please stop. I am supposed to stick out. That’s my natural shape: big, round, sometimes flabby, hanging over the top of your jeans. My jobs are to: breathe, digest food, and provide your “gut instinct” and intuition. I need a lot of room to do those things! Fun fact: did you know 90% of serotonin is produced in the gut? That’s is where food goes after it leaves me. Good moods and gut instincts come from me (and my other, fabulous, intestine neighbors). How cool is that? Just to reiterate: I DIGEST FOOD, which keeps you ALIVE. So. Stop being mean to me for looking like the top of a muffin, or a cupcake. I’m pretty amazing. I mean, seriously. What’s your Superpower? Pretty wise belly. What does your belly have to say?
