Rugby has in the past struggle to be attractive to state schools, girls schools and to those who don't see it as a sport for them because they thinknits top aggressive, to dangerous, only for rich school boys or maybe they deem themselves too small, too big, to slow, not sporty, too delicate or any number of traits that you use to tall yourself out of it. Let me tell you. Rugby NEEDS you, rugby only grows with you. We need as many people playing and being involved with rugby as possible. Because you can be involved in rugby and not be a player. Touch 2 Twickenham has been revolutionary in getting the non rugby schools into our wonderful sport. It's a non-contact touch, mixed gender version with simplified rules, and encourages plenty of running rugby. I took part in my local Kent event where over half the players had never played rugby before, and plenty of the PE teachers had never been involved in rugby either. The highlight of the day for me came towards the end when the scoring games finished early, and the students were told there was still time for non scoring games if they wanted it. And the cheer that game for being allowed to continue playing... pure joy. What I want to know is, who got you involved, and what has rugby done for you? PS. Touch to Twickenham 🏉 Some of our year 8 & 9 students took part in the Kent round of the Touch to Twickenham tournament today. An excellent opportunity for the students to experience touch rugby. Well done to our students for working extremely hard and supporting each other. We also had 5 students supporting the event as referees. These students did a fantastic job officiating all matches during the day. Year 9 student Eriife reports on the day: I loved it!! We started off with a practice led by our leaders, and I was nervous about how the matches were going to be. The first match I was subbed off, I watched the game and then I was put on. I got an idea of what to do whilst watching and at the end of the match I was so shocked at how much I understood about the game. I knew when to run forward and when to stop and pass. I really liked doing lines for my team and just charging forwards. I also enjoyed meeting new people and learning how to actually play touch rugby. We also got to speak to and meet Shaunagh Brown which was an AMAZING and a really nice experience. This was my first time actually playing rugby and for us to have won not one, but two matches and drawing one is amazing!! I think that I really played my part and I have DEFINITELY learnt something new - like how to score a try properly 😁. A very big thanks to Justine and our sports leaders for putting up with us throughout today and encouraging us throughout. I had so much fun! Jill Paha does it again, not only winning this year's Tunnel To Towers Charlotte Tower Climb outright, but also setting a new course record at the city's Museum Tower in the process. Last year, Paha became the first person, man or woman, to go sub-5:00 in the building, with a 4:50 finish. This year, she cut 11 seconds off that time, scaling her way up the building's 765 steps to the 43rd-story finish line in 4:39. In so doing, she fended off a trio of men who joined her in the sub-5:00 club, including last year's winner Joseph Teates, who lopped 38 seconds off his winning time last year en route to a 4:41 winning effort on the men's side this year. His repeat victory eclipsed the previous men's building record of 5:01 set by Josh Jackett in 2022. Joining Teates on the podium and in the sub-5:00 club were Matt Yost (4:46) and Kevin Thompson (4:49). For the women, Charlotte-area towerrunner Meg Santanna (5:24) trimmed a second off her second place time last year to repeat behind Paha in second place. So this is a niche item that arrived a couple of weeks ago at the Tactics 2 Toys HQ. It is the Supreme Evil ReAction Figure from Dinosaur's Attack. Dinosaurs Attach was a Topps trading card set that paid homage to 1950s B-movies. It was released in 1988. The base set was 55 cards and 11 stickers. The cards depict time travel gone wrong. Dinosaurs are transported to the present and cause havoc. As the scientist try to reverse the time travel effect, Supreme Evil (AKA Supreme Monstrosity), the patron deity of the dinosaurs, intervenes to stop the scientists. Unfortunately, it was not a successful Topps product.
