The Forgotten Hero Derek Lea as Frederick W Barrett, in 1997 production, this polaroid from my archives came from Make up department, normally used for continuity in the scenes, which often lasted several days of filming. Lea, who gave life to one of the key people in the sinking, Frederick Barrett, an Englishman, 29 years old, joined the crew of the Titanic as Leading Fireman assigned to Boiler No. 6. He was in charge at the time of the collision with the Iceberg, and was of tremendous importance in activating the pumps and managing to keep Boiler No. 5 without water for more than an hour. If this boiler room had flooded earlier, the ship would have capsized sooner. Fate would take him to be on A deck and he was appointed by 1st Officer Murdoch to crew boat No. 13 which sailed with 48 passengers, including Ruth Becker, this boat was twice in danger of being lowered, once by the water outlets that were being drained from the ship by the pumps, and again by boat No. 15 being lowered at about the same time. It was Barrett and other men who cut the ropes with knives in order to free the boat. Later in the night he would take charge of No. 13 until they were rescued by the Carpathia. Barrett was a key witness at the Scottish Drill Hall Enquiry in London, as one of the few witnesses to what happened in the boilers. After the Titanic he was reassigned to the Olympic, he would die of tuberculosis at the age of 48. Titanic Teatime at @titanic_exhibit was SO MUCH FUN! Gosh, where do I start? It was an even more immersive roleplay than I thought, because we weren’t ourselves. But rather, we were role playing as the guests on our provided boarding passes. Today I was Mrs. Charlotte Warburton Martinez Cardeza, a first class 58-year-old mother returning from an African safari. Because I was the first person at my table to be interacted with by the Countess, I actually slipped up and introduced myself as Jeklyn! But I quickly recovered, corrected myself as Mrs. Cardeza, and explained that I had spent some time at the bar shortly before attending tea. The three hostesses were PHENOMENAL! In addition to interacting with the guests, they also taught us proper tea drinking etiquette, and sang 3 songs for us! The food was exquisite! My favorites were the cucumber sandwich and the chocolate caramel tart! But all of it was so fancy and good! I also ended up downing SEVEN cups of tea…and it was English Breakfast tea…so I am bit high wired now! My only complaint is that I wish we had more time to eat and enjoy each course. I only got to eat 2 scones, with room for more, only to be pushed along into dessert. A good 10 scones went to waste on our table, and that makes me sad. Regardless, it is a very lovely and charming alternative to the Gala. The gala is much more of a romantic endeavor, so I will continue saving it for my special someone. But teatime is ideal to be shared with friends, and I’m so happy that @haunting_sirena_siren could join me! Wylądowaliśmy na Titanicu ⛴️😱 Jednym z naszych przystanków jest Branson w Missouri. Koło naszego kempingu wyrastał budynek w kształcie Titanica, ktory jest jedną z najwiekszych atrakcji w tym mieście. Już od wejscia zaskoczyli nas pracownicy przebrani za załogę i obsługę statku 😍 dostaliśmy bilety, a na każdym była historia pasażera statku. Muzeum świetnie oddaje wnętrza statku 🤩 Nie jest może jeden do jednego, ale ścieżka zwiedzania prowadzi przez różne części, mozna zobaczyć jak wyglądały kajuty w różnych klasach, co widział kapitan, co robiły dzieci na statku, jakie atrakcje czekały... 👨‍✈️ Poznajemy pasażerów statku, zarówno tych co przetrwali jak i tych którym sie nie udało. A letter of the RMS Carpathia from 1904. Built for Cunard at the Swan Hunter & Wigham Richardson shipyard and launched in 1903. The Carpathia was designed for the transport of Eastern European immigrants and for Mediterranean holidays. At 170 metres long and 13,555 tons, she could carry a total capacity of about three thousand people between passengers and crew. Needless to say the importance of the Carpathia and her Captain Arthur Rostron for the rescue of the survivors of the Titanic. After the Titanic she continued to serve in commercial service, until the beginning of the Great War where she was of great importance for the transport of troops and supplies, until 17 July 1918 when she was torpedoed by the German submarine SM-U55, her sinking left five dead, and her remains were discovered in the year 2000. The most impressive museum I’ve visited🛳️⚓️ It truly was💔 I’ll definitely make the post with all the useful information about Titanic Belfast Museum, but here I just want to share all the emotions from my visit. This museum had a great impact on me especially in that part that told us about the catastrophe of the ship. The atmosphere was so tragic for all of the visitors to feel the sorrow of the tragedy. The memorial desk with all of the 1512 names of passengers who died that night on 15 April 1912. But this museum left for me not only sad thoughts. Here we were the part of the construction and building this huge ship with many interesting details. We were just in time to hear the first announcement of the Titanic launch. We could see the interactive passengers through the different cabins on the ship. We even had the opportunity to walk along the deck and sit on the bench pretending we were on the ship. A Irlanda do Norte faz parte do Reino Unido. 🇬🇧 junto com a Inglaterra, 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Escócia, 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 e País de Gales. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 A sua capital é Belfast (Esse local das fotos.) A cidade em sí é bem gostosa de se conhecer, tudo muito limpo, bem cuidado, tudo pode ser feito a pé, (coisa que eu amo e prezo muito.) Hoje a Irlanda do Norte é palco de um cabo de guerra, entre a República da Irlanda e o Reino Unido. Pois, a Irlanda reivindica a reunificação de toda a ilha e a própria Irlanda do Norte não quer sair do Reino Unido, por questões religiosas. A Irlanda do Norte tem como religião em sua grande maioria, protestante. Ou anglicana já no outro lado da ilha, os Irlandeses são católicos. No dia 31 de Maio de 1911 era concluído lá em Belfast, um dos navios cuja a curta trajetória e o fim trágico que todo o mundo conhece. Hoje a cidade abriga o museu do Titanic, nas proximidades em que o mesmo foi construído. Por último mas, não menos importante! Desde 1972, até os dias atuais a Irlanda do Norte não possui bandeira oficial! 😱 utilizada em substituição a Bandeira do Reino Unido.
