Halfway through the UBX 6wk challenge. I can feel that my core is getting stronger and my boxing more coordinated and stronger. Week 3 the wheels came off somewhat in the kitchen. Had night shifts. But rather than beating myself up I decided to count the wins. I never set out to be perfect, mistake-free. The goal was: make it to the gym for a minimum 4 sessions a week and eat less take-away. And I’m still reaching those goals. My lower back hurts less than it used to, that’s a big victory. My left knee gets pretty sore when there’s squatting but the coaches are awesome about helping me adjust the workouts and giving me warm-up and cool-down exercises to support that poor knee. I have discovered I love lifting and boxing and the community at ubx 🥊 #ubxtraining #ubxboxing #health #fitness #selfcare #lifting #training #challenge

Massive throwback to over 10 years ago… 🙈 Sometimes life comes full circle. ♾️ Most of you would know me as a ‘cyclist’, but well before I ever touched a bike, I spent about 15 years training in martial arts, including kickboxing, Wing Chun Kung Fu, and Taekwondo. I eventually went on to compete at an elite level in Taekwondo, becoming a four time State Champion, and even representing Australia on the international circuit. 🥋🇦🇺 Although I ‘retired’ from fighting a long time ago, I’m still super passionate about martial arts and the life lessons it taught me. Additionally, the physical and mental conditioning helped me to develop into a strong cyclist and compete at a high level (despite coming to the sport much later in life). Recently I became a coach at @ubxunley, which has helped reignite my passion for martial arts. After predominately focussing on my cycling fitness for the last few years, it’s been super refreshing to incorporate something different and develop strength in other areas that inevitably get neglected on the bike.
