Parfois, en hiver dans la toundra, des miracles se produisent. Le vent cesse sa course folle l'espace parfois d'une journée ou deux, et par -20 degrés, le givre enlace les bouleaux endormis. Fleurissent alors sur les branches, des milliers de cristaux brillants, Fragiles, qui peuvent tomber à la moindre petite brise. Un calme mystique s'installe alors, lorsque le vent se tait, accompagné d'un un silence déroutant, une vague de paix, de sérénité. Puis résonne au loin le chant envoûtant du bouvreuil pivoine, qui se rapproche de plus en plus, jusqu'à ce que la magie se produise. La toundra, chaque jour de l'année, est un livre ouvert de poésie, d'apprentissages, de contemplation permanente. Merci, merci à cette terre sacrée et ses habitants si courageux 🙏🏻🤍❄️
Here's a lovely young female brown bear from my time spent in Alaska a couple of years ago. We'd spent several hours quietly sitting in the rain as the water started to seep through my 'waterproof' jacket, and there was no sign of any bears either! Suddenly there was a rustle to our left, and soon after this one appeared as she ambled through the long grass. She had no interest in us - after a brief glance at us as she passed, she headed off into the thick vegetation.
With all this rain and the rivers flowing again, these Elephants decided to have a swim and enjoy the cool waters. It won second place in the Ocean Wildlife Photographer of the Year category. "Surrounded by diverse wildlife in Paradise Bay, a raft of energetic gentoo penguins charged towards our inflatable," says Parry. "Getting low on the boat, I prefocused my lens anticipating the moment. Freezing the fastest penguin species in the world head on wasn’t easy as they raced at speeds of over 20mph towards me. An epic moment as I maintained focus and composition and fulfilled my gentoo vision by locking in a dynamic front-on portrait that surpassed even my wildest visions."
