Possibly the most exciting thing to happen to me this year? (I know, I live a sad life!) But I grew my very own organic πŸ… !! This is actually the product of my daughter's Gardening Club. However, when she brought this little seedling of a plant 🌿 home last year, I didn't fancy its chances. It looked a little straggly and knowing that I'd be responsible for its care, I wasn't hopeful. However, with dogged persistence, seeing beyond the scrawniness of it's fronds, and a whole lot of love, I managed to not only keep it alive but to propagate a tiny red fruit! This has just reignited my dream of moving out to the country, having a garden and growing my own organic produce. One day.... Still, there's no harm in practicing with window box creations! # #organicveggies #organicproduce #organicvegetables #organic #igrewthis #feelingaccomplished #windowboxveg #windowbox #nutritiousvegetables #samanthaflowernutrition

The first windowbox radishes. They thrive in cold weather and have such a crunch when picked fresh. Of course Peter Rabbit loves radishes which encourages my two to eat them! #radish #growyourown #seasonal #veggies #nutrients #radishes #windowboxveg #local #gardening #kidswhogarden #kitchengarden

Yesterday I planted the Spring Blush Tendril and Blue Bantam peas that I started in February into the window box planter that sits on the kitchen garden gate. Instead of growing them up stakes I think they'll look nice trailing over the edge. Especially the Spring Blush, they are exceptionally pretty. It's deep enough that I also sowed some carrots, "Mokum" and "Adelaide" from Johnny seeds. Peas and carrots are companions and play very nice together. Adelaide's are "true" baby carrots, maturing at 3-4 inches in 50 days. Mokum's can be harvested immaturely at 36 days or at 5.5-6.5 inches in 50 days. I was fortunate to have ordered these seeds in September as I have seen a lot of back ordered items in their inventory. The seed rush from last year only seems to be bigger this year. #kitchengarden #windowboxveg #march #wintergarden #potager #peasandcarrots #fromthepottingbench #plantlings #feedthebees #feedthewees

These tiny Pepper and Lettuce seedlings are happily growing on my windowsill, alongside Tomato and Basil seedlings. πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸŒΎ it is little things like this that I wouldn’t ever normally get to enjoy, so it is a real treat watching them grow. My only worry is what on earth I’ll do with over 25 Lettuces, 15 Pepper plants, 12 Tomatoes and 10 Basil! Perhaps I should have thought about that!! πŸ₯¬πŸ… are you taking part in #growyourownfood too? #lettuce #peppers #bellpeppers #tomatoes #growvegetables #windowboxveg #homegrown #growfood

Window box Spring onions worked out very well, took up very little space and I haven't had to buy any scallions this summer I just picked out what I wanted, I have another batch sowed and they should be ready to use in a few weeks, the lettuce keeps growing too I just pick out what I need and it grows back very fast #garden #smallgarden #gardnersworld #lettuce #windowboxveg

Cold outside? Growing sweet peppers from collected seed. Pollinate by hand (no bees in the house!) and later plant out in spring. #veginmylounge #growyourown #windowboxveg #indoorgardening

Our very own tatties are ready!! So proud!! They tasted YUM too <3 I was thinking of steaming veggies when I remembered I had no potatoes left ... In my proud moment I went outside to 'see' if any of my home grown were ready ... LOVE that they were and I got to cook a yummy lunch of mostly homegrown veg! <3
