April 2024 YTD Mileage: ~ 493Miles April Mileage: 98 Miles April has been a life changing month - literally. With the addition of the baby in the family, there has been major adjustments in my routine and it has been about being flexible yet discipline enough to get in what I can & when I can! 😊 time is flying by and we’re trying to make the most memories during this time! 😃 It was a good call to not sign up for a lot of races this year because I didn’t know what to expect and I am currently just doing a base training - trying to ramp up to my mileage I need for the official training starting in July for my October marathon (@towaterfront42k). The base training has been going really well! I’ve put my gym membership on hold for now, and doing all my running outside now the weather is better and I’m over my ptsd from the dog bite! 🙌🏽 I just realized with @strava month summaries (for those with the paid version), it includes all activities (for my that’s including my multiple walks daily with my dog 🐶 Lucky). I guess I have been getting my mileage wrong for a few months when I used that, and getting it right when I use the training log to add up just the runs mileage! The statistic portion on your profile page however, is just your runs (really weird if you ask me)! I’m going to be only using the manual method from now on with the training log to figure out monthly mileage! As the mileage increases slowly in this base building plan, I’m really feeling good and looking forward to a great month of May! If you’re over 30, switch it up and keep your face looking youthful! Mistakes: 1- using way too much product on the under eye. That skin ages faster than any other area and less is more in that area. The triangle is out because it drags the face down, two dots are in because it lifts the face! 2- Placing the contour too low. Again, we don’t want to pull our face down or make it look more full 😶 lift it up and fake a face lift! 3- Who knew adding some cheek color in the wrong place could make the face look so wrong. 🍺 4 MONTHS NO ALCOHOL 🍺 I chose to set my self a goal of no booze until after the marathon 🙏 My last drink was 27th December 2023 seems like years ago! I don’t think I will ever be T total, because I don’t like to put restrictions on my life, but having periods of no alcohol is one of the best things you can ever do! I have discovered so much more about me, Iv been able to take on so much more in life. Waking up feeling fresh, thinking clearly and getting to know exactly how I want my future to look and taking steps in the right direction to get there ❤️ The biggest challenge of any change in life I think people fear is what other people might say or think. Don’t let this stop you stepping into who you want to be or how you want to live your life 💜✨ It’s not them who are waking up feeling shit and ruining the week ahead because of alcohol! Before and after! I ended up taking about 6 to 8 inches out of the hem band. Now I absolutely love it. Such a difference, I know you can't really see it in the photos, but I can feel it when I put it on. I am feeling really proud. A year ago I wouldn't of had a clue how to fix it. Reflecting on a Fulfilling Day This morning, I woke up without any specific plans, allowing the day to unfold organically. Despite not engaging in rigorous physical activities, I spent a few hours in quiet contemplation. It felt as though both my body and mind had momentarily powered down, akin to a reactor core tripping. Later, a call from a newly made artist friend brightened my day. We conversed for nearly 1.5 hours, discovering shared interests and even making plans for a future coffee date. The pleasant weather beckoned, and I took a leisurely walk, appreciating the simple joys of the moment. In a heartwarming encounter, a kind neighbor generously shared her time, leaving me with a sense of calm and inner peace. Her wisdom resonated deeply. Adding to the day’s warmth, another neighbor surprised me with thoughtful gifts all the way from Aruba. The sweet note accompanying the gifts melted my heart, filling it with genuine affection. Lastly, I completed writing notes for students receiving grants—a task I’d been diligently working on for the past few days. It’s satisfying to see this accomplishment firmly marked on my timeline. #FeelingAccomplished

Here is my tiny backyard garden in all its glory, complete with washing line full of reusable wipes (we didn't get on with reusable nappies but using these wipes makes me feel slightly better about our contribution to landfill!) I spent another two hours today, whilst my toddler (and husband!) napped potting up some strawberry plants (tenira variety) I had bought from The Range, as well as repotting a raspberry plant that had been in a pot that was way too small for it. I was very excited to show my toddler three ladybirds that were in the border, even though I think they freaked her out a bit. It's so nice to have a garden that feels more animal/bug friendly compared to when we had fake plastic grass as a lawn. It's noticeable how present the birds are now and I was able to get really close to one of the female blackbirds. My aim is to have a family/animal/bug/pollinator friendly garden, that provides us with a bit of food and be a space that ultimately we can enjoy even though it is so small. Today I achieved a personal goal. Two years and 1 month ago, I had surgery. A month later, I was back to meeting my 10,000 steps/day goal. Since then, I have not missed a single day. Today marks 730 days in a row - 2 years - of achieving at least 10,000 steps/day. And for the last 16 months, I’ve averaged 13,000/day. 🏅New challenges are always fun!🏅 I wanted to challenge myself in a new way lately. I have always wanted to get better at distance running since I used to run track. 🏃🏼♀️After my leg injuries, running became a huge challenge for me. I found virtual 5ks where the money spent goes to charity and I get a tee shirt, a race bib, and a completion medal. 🥇 I can track my time and see my standing compared to others throughout the nation. I can chose the race and when I want to do it! What a cool idea! 💡 Today I did my first one. 1️⃣I wore my shirt and Aiden gave me my medal when I finished! I even ran some extra miles. It was a beautiful sunny day and I feel accomplished! For those of us that do nails, whether they are nail techs or make press ons. There's a familiarity to a messy nail station. It's inevitable, I mean sure, some people sort of "clean as they go" but there's only so much you can do because at least in the way I see it. You can put away bottles and things you feel you will no longer need. However if you're doing nail art...chances are you have blobs of polish on your nail palette, which is one thing I personally don't clean until I completed the set because I don't want to interrupt my process, but also because when that set is done. I sit back, I breathe and I look at the blobs of polish everywhere...and I smile. I smile for many reasons, I made a cool nail set, I accomplished something, I not only enjoyed the process but I am happy that it's completed and there's a serenity in that. That mess, it means all of that to me. It means Im a creator, an artist, and it's inspiring to me. Possibly the most exciting thing to happen to me this year? (I know, I live a sad life!) But I grew my very own organic 🍅 !! This is actually the product of my daughter's Gardening Club. However, when she brought this little seedling of a plant 🌿 home last year, I didn't fancy its chances. It looked a little straggly and knowing that I'd be responsible for its care, I wasn't hopeful. However, with dogged persistence, seeing beyond the scrawniness of it's fronds, and a whole lot of love, I managed to not only keep it alive but to propagate a tiny red fruit! This has just reignited my dream of moving out to the country, having a garden and growing my own organic produce. One day....
