. Sketchbook page a day; April 7, 2006 . This was a study page for an art + science exhibit I was invited to at the University of Alaska’s Museum of the North. . The premise was to combine an Arctic science subject and our own visual art technique. . I chose to focus on Phyllocnistis populleila, the Aspen leaf miner moth. Fascinating little buggers! . Their pupae life cycle eats patterns through leaf integument. I saw these intricate lines symbolically as record of effort or experience. On us, the lines on our face and hands. . I used self portraits by way of xerox transfers. (Are those even a thing anymore?) .
