I'm now convinced that Claude is a more suitable LLM for creative tasks! A few weeks ago, I tried feeding a #midjourney generated image to #googlegemini to create some poetry based on a given poet/genre. This time, I asked both #claude and #gemini to come up with a poem by blending the style of Gabriel Rossetti and Sylvia Plath based on the image provided(see last picture). The same prompt was used for both LLMs - "Write a poem in the style of Gabriel Rossetti and Sylvia Plath for this image". And so far, I think Claude Sonnet has outperformed Gemini in being more creative, and the verses just seem to flow better. I noticed that Gemini always had to mention the names of the poets when that was unnecessary and unwanted. To forget time, to forgive life, to be at peace."~ Doamne, că mult mi-am mai dorit cartea asta! 😫 Mi se întâmplă câteodată să îmi leg mintea de o carte și să nu mai rup legătura asta până nu o citesc. Mi-e imposibil să vă explic cum, dar am un sentiment, o presimțire să zicem, care îmi spune că acea carte îmi va plăcea, că va fi una dintre preferatele mele. Ei bine, asta s-a întâmplat și în cazul acestei cărți. Am disperat la propriu după ea. Am citit-o în română pe Kindle, dar doresc să o recitesc fizic, în engleză ca să am mintea și inima împăcate, dar și ca să mă asigur că traducerea nu a afectat subiectul cărții. În română, stilul de scriere m-a câștigat. E puțin haotic, pentru că de multe ori timpul și locul acțiunii se schimbă brusc, însă m-am acomodat rapid și chiar mi-a plăcut. Cel mai important la cartea asta este subiectul și modul în care este abordat. Se consideră o semiautobiografie (numele personajele nu coincid cu persoane reale din viața autoarei), așa că e greu să stabilești o temă în care să încadrezi acest roman. Autoarea se raportează la viața ei de adolescentă-femeie, la emoțiile ei, la gândurile ei și la momentele care i se par decisive pentru ea. Sylvia vorbește atât de deschis despre ceea ce simte, încât aveam impresia că sunt gândurile și emoțiile mele acolo. Mi-a fost imposibil să nu mă regăsesc în ideeile sale, în concepțiile ei. E un roman ce adună momente, gânduri și emoții; mi-a dat impresia că până și personajul narator încearcă să deslușească cauza care i-a provocat criza de identitate prin care trece. E o întreagă luptă pe care o duce pentru a înțelege cine este ea, ce îi place, ce își dorește să fie, să facă, într-o lume condusă de bărbați.

Not too too long ago, I went to visit a friend of mine in Massachusetts. She wanted to show me the botanical gardens at Smith College and we happened to be there as the gardens were hosting an exhibition called “The Bell Jars,” talking about how Botany 101 influenced Sylvia Plath’s writing. I was so surprised (she had no idea this was happening; I had no idea) and so moved that I started crying. Sylvia Plath’s work has meant so much to me— her life, her poetry, and, of course, The Bell Jar. This was one of those meant-to-be moments. Half a year later, a reader would compare my work to Sylvia Plath’s, telling me that my pieces had moved them in the same way Sylvia Plath’s had. This reader couldn’t have known that their words weren’t just an incredible (I cried, obvs) compliment to me, they were a sign. Sometimes I doubt the path I’m on, myself, my skill, my own sanity in trying to make a life where I prioritize my art (in this economy?! at my age?!!) and then these small coincidences happen, these little messages from the universe that I’m on the right path. The more I trust my intuition, the more I trust my own voice, the clearer the path becomes. I cieszę się, że ponownie ją przeczytałam, bo myślę, że dopiero teraz ją zrozumiałam i doceniłam jeszcze bardziej niż wcześniej. 🤍 - Esther Greenwood, to przykład jednej z wielu kobiet lat 50-80 ubiegłego wieku, które wkraczając w dorosłość popadają w obłęd, spowodowany przytłoczeniem oczekiwaniami społeczeństwa... - Mając świadomość tego jak potoczyło się życie Sylvi Plath, czytając "Szklany klosz", było mi po prostu smutno. Kiedyś czytając tę powieść patrzyłam na to co ja przeżywam, chciałam się utożsamić. Teraz widzę po co została ona stworzona - żeby pokazać realia tamtego świata, tego jak wielkie oczekiwania były w stosunku do kobiet. Sylvia Plath hat mit "The Bell Jar" für den Mai gewonnen! 🥳 Auf der zweiten Seite findet ihr nochmal eine deutsche Zusammenfassung für "The Bell Jar" (dt. »Die Glasglocke«). ☁️ „Die Zerissenheit seiner Protagonistin im Spannungsfeld der gesellschaftlichen Anforderungen traf die Stimmungslage vieler Frauen und trug dazu bei, dass die Autorin postum zu einer Ikone der Frauenbewegung wurde.“ Plath‘s einziges Werk ist semi-autobiografisch und hat u.A. 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 & 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐉𝐚𝐫 𝐛𝐲 𝐒𝐲𝐥𝐯𝐢𝐚 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐡 - ★★★.𝟓 ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☁︎ The Bell Jar is Sylvia Plath’s only novel. Most of her literate works are poems I’ve read (Ariel) before tackling TBJ. I had to process this book for a few days to properly organize my thoughts because I felt conflicted with the book. The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath is a well-known book in the community but with mixed reviews. I read them to understand what I’m putting myself through. But to remain impartial and to give it a fair go, I decided to finally jump into the book and read it for myself to cast judgment. So here’s what I think: It’s a love-hate relationship. [𝐖𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 & 𝐌𝐀𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐌𝐄] I was pleasantly surprised that I mostly enjoyed the reading process. I adore that Plath has this poetic but straightforward and unpredictable tone in her writing. One moment it’s beautiful, then a few sentences later it’s shocking. Reading the foreword by Frances McCullough also helped me navigate the book better by understanding the context and how Sylvia took parts of herself and applied them to Esther (the MC). I see how this book has opened doors to the topic of mental health at that time, especially for women going through the patriarchy that led to mental health problems, substance abuse, and suicide. It was considered taboo to talk about it at her time. So this felt enriching for many women at her time and also to me– a woman of now – because think about how lucky we are to fight the stigma of mental health and feminist movements. While there’s still a long way to go, it’s better than what our ancestors had before.
