Brook commissioned six queer and trans writers to each create a new work inspired by a psalm of their choosing. They selected these writers for their shared interest in translating the potency of traditional religious practice into more inclusive and expansive terms. Interspersed between the pipes throughout the installation is graphite hand-drawn serif lettering, communicating lines of text from the commissioned psalm poems. Sounds of the organ pipes and the voices of the poets are heard in the audio piece. The reading Tree Final new illustration I imagined for my exhibition! . At the foot of this tree, stories come alive, as one can sit there with a great book, sheltered by the large branches and leaves! Stories are the heart of this exhibition so I felt it was the right thing to show the importance of books and reading, (I am a bookworm myself!)as way of extending our imagination but also for enlightenment and knowledge ! . This illustration was a fun mix medium piece : pastels, watercolours, colour pencils…all assembled in a leaf collage! (And even a little bit of linocut ! Can you see? It’s very light…) ~ Un arbre et un livre La dernière nouvelle illustration imaginée pour mon exposition ! . Au pied de cet arbre, les histoires prennent vie alors qu’on parcours un bon livre, tranquillement abrité sous les grandes branches et feuillages! Les histoires sont au cœur de cette exposition et je trouvais qu’il était bon de souligner l’importance des livres et de la lecture (étant moi-même une amoureuse des livres!), comme moyen d’étendre son imagination, mais aussi pour l’éclairage et le savoir! . Cette illustration était un joyeux mélange de médiums : pastels, aquarelles, crayons de couleurs tout assemblé en un collage de feuilles! (Et même un peu de linogravure! L’avez vous repéré ? C’est très léger…) . Here the amazing story about Nom @studio.nom About me Growing up in a big family where money was tight, I quickly learned that if I wanted to have something, I had to be resourceful and make it myself. So using my imagination and any useful materials I could get my hands on, I made my very own Barbie Dreamhouse. As a young girl, I was passionate about all things fashion and had my heart set on a career in the industry. I graduated from Charles Montaigne Fashion Academy in Amsterdam and pursued a career as a fashion designer. However, after 12 years in fashion, I missed the unbridled creativity of my youth, the joy of actually crating things with my own two hands. It was time to step away from my desk, time to experiment with different techniques and materials. Time to start a new creative journey. About my work My work is driven by intuition and a sense of play. Working with scraps and repurposing materials challenges me to explore all possibilities. In my process, I’m constantly weighing the options. What to keep, what to remove, where to adjust or add? I absolutely love geometric patterns and bold colors. One is a perfect expression of my desire to create structure and order. The other is where I allow myself to play and experiment. In my pieces, colors can clash and be loud or reinforce each other to form a perfect harmony.
