Getting my #2020timbergiveaway entry in at the very last minute because 🙋🏻♀️ that’s me in a nutshell. I don’t know if I could choose a favorite tool in my little workshop because I love them ALL but my favorite person to be in the shop with is a no brainer. That’s my brother. The boy version of me. The enabler to my tool addiction in the shop AND in the kitchen. My partner in crime and my biggest supporter. He’s the person I call when a project gets the best of me and, it never fails, he’s always the one encouraging to get me to the finish line. I don’t think I would know what I know or do what I’ve been able to do without him cheering me on. He doesn’t have a Facebook OR Instagram so if anyone sees him today, ask him if his ears are burning. 🙃
The #naptimehustle is real!! While most of the designing I do is done with sweet Lily herself and baby Chloe climbing all over me (swipe for the cuteness 🥰) almost everything I make is made while the littles are sleeping— hence my fancy shmancy monitor iPad being one of my favorite “shop tools” 🤣 . ...but here’s an honorable mention for my badass fold up work table, too! (Thanks to the hubs 💕) I‘m working with very limited space in the garage so it’s nice to have an actual worktop that doesn’t have to stay in the way 👍 . I'm so bummed I never got super awesome photos of these table numbers at the wedding or anywhere other than in the grass lol. But this one isn't terrible, these were my first ever big scroll saw project and I was sooo happy with how they turned out!! I can't wait for the warmth to come back so I can get more motivated to spend more than the bare minimum amount of time in the garage lol. I love my scroll saw so much and I have so many projects I've started that I really really need to finish so I can post them here and on the shop! For our #2020timbergiveaway post, we of course want to highlight our @craftsman wood lathe. We started this business with a couple dremels in a spare room in Clermont, FL. When we moved to Michigan in 2017, we knew we would have more opportunities to grow but little did we know this lathe was waiting for us at a family friend's estate sale and we got it ASAP for an incredible price. Erik started whipping up bowls and goblet and wands with no problem, teaching himself to turn wildly fast and blowing all our minds in the process. We can't even imagine where we would be right now without this incredible tool in our lives.

Welcome to my workshop! I don’t have a fancy garage to work out of, so I work right here on my couch! It’s my perfect sanctuary. This area is my paint studio, my sanding table, my glue up area, etc. all in one! There is so much paint on this table, but I absolutely love it. No one is around to yell at my paint bottles everywhere or the wood pieces stashed wherever I can find room. This is my true, authentic space and it brings me so much joy! When it comes to favorite shop tools, my fridge ranks right up there with my jointer. It’s always great to have a nice cold one close by, particularly in the heat of the Nevada summers. - All kidding aside, my consumer brand jointer has made all the difference in getting a true edge to work off of. As I get to be a better wood worker, I’ll upgrade but for now that 6” baby has been clutch. My favorite thing in my shop would definitely have to be this table that has been with me from the beginning. It was found in a cabin we were remodeling and I couldn’t just get rid of it! It held my very first miter saw, and every single piece out of my shop has touched it. After a busy 2019 with custom signs I decided I would take the first few month of 2020 and do some things for myself. A dog crate for the dog I barely like was first on the list🤣. My "shop" is basically half the size of a single car garage There's not much room after all the tools and lumber but I do what I can with the small space I got. I really enjoy being able to go in there and create something that I have in my head. I built this crate with no plans and all scraps. I would be lying if I said I knew what I was doing, I screwed up a bunch and my cuts weren't always straight but that's okay. I enjoy just "figuring" it out. I don't post much of my builds because I feel inadequate compared to all of the amazing builders I follow, but you have to start somewhere, right? If you don’t know me in real life, you probably don’t know that I used to have a small sign making and traveling paint party business. I loved what I did, but the constant travel and late nights of the parties lead to massive burnout. Two years ago, a job opportunity came knocking at my door and in a moment of desperation and exhaustion, I took it. I traded my sawdust hustle for a steady paycheck and got to start parking in my garage again, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel like I lost a huge part of myself these last two years. The plan for 2020 is to finish the house (which is what most of you are here for) and to start scrolling again. My garage shop has always been my happy place, and the sense of peace I feel when I’m making sawdust is something I have yet to find anywhere else- trust me, I’ve looked. It’s not on a yoga mat, at the bottom of a bottle, on the running trails, or in endless hours of Netflix. I always love helping other businesses or entrepreneurs-in-the-making find the confidence to just JUMP! Go for it. Chase it. You might fail and let’s be honest ... you probably will. A lot. But that’s what makes you a success once you’re on the other side of the struggle. If you have a dream ... work for it. . When I started painting signs YEARS ago, having a sign business was so far off the radar for me. I was hand painting, not well I might, random requests from family and friends. I cut my wood with a hand saw. Like old school, no power just me, the wood and some jaggedy metal. I didn’t own a miter saw or nail gun, so I couldn’t frame anything. I used edge banding to make my edges look nice and even that was a stretch. . Over time, I’ve upgraded my tools. I have a hand me down miter saw from a contractor that upgraded, a super cheap nail gun I’ve had to rebuy 3 times cause they keep breaking, an air compressor that was gifted to me instead of a traditional birthday present ... and a BRAND NEW router table. I still paint with the same paintbrushes I did years ago and SO OFTEN use hand me down paints or supplies. Remember, sometimes we don’t need the best brands or the best tools to get the job done. (They’re always super nice to have and can definitely make it easier!) But if you can make do with what you have and work up to build your business one piece at a time, buying things like a new router table will make you appreciate the moment so much more. Don’t stand in your own way and make excuses like I don’t have this or that ... do what you can and work to manifest your business, craft or dream! Push aside excuses and just GO FOR IT. #2020timbergiveaway

Wherever the place in the house I need to be is where I’ll be painting .. usually with a child climbing on my back atleast 20 times. This spunk right here has made my making days much harder than my oldest kid did at her age. I swear her goal everyday is to see how much mess and sass she can give me. One day I will get a lot done but right now is not that day nor is tomorrow and that’s fine. I love the ages my littles are at right now🖤 my favorite shop time is my babes. How is it February already? My January was filled with a kiddo who was hospitalized, an unexpected and tragic death in the family, and being snowed in with extreme winds and low temperatures. What a way to start 2020! Time is a funny thing where it can seem to move so fast and so painfully slow at the same time. . This weekend was the first time I was able to step foot in the shop and spend some serious time in there - it was amazing! My favorite tool isn’t top of the line, it isn’t new, and it has its quirks (kinda sounds like me! 😂) but using it to make and create brings me peace and calm. I can sit down and my mind clears - it’s therapy! . My $60 marketplace scroll saw find has been the best investment in myself and creativity. I can zone out, rock out, think things over, or pray - whatever is needed in the moment. Sometimes we need to take a break from "perfect" paint lines and 90 degree corners to have a little fun in the shop. This guy brings it by the bucket loads. He always shows up with the most imaginative plans sketched out. He walks me through them with the detail of an engineer and the excitement of a unicorn. He asked to build an action figure that he could paint to look like a gamer that he enjoys. He then went on to explain that it needed to be 🙆♂️ this big. We scaled it back a bit and went ahead with his instructions. I worked the power tools. He did the glue up and finishing touches. Not only was this super fun, but it has been routinely one of the fastest selling items in our booth. I love that creating and making bubble inside of him. Added some dust collection with a dust deputy and some scrap 2x4 boards to level out the cutting surface. Plus an @ivacswitch that starts the vacuum when the saw starts and shuts it off 10 seconds after the saw shuts off. This tool cart. #2020timbergiveaway for Lizzy’s giveaway, she assigned us to take a picture with our favorite tool. Mine belong to my brother in law, who passed away at the young age of 28. I’ll never fix the broken lift (that’s what the 2x4 is for) or add anymore stickers. We both shared an interest in building and creating. Bummed we didn’t get to do more together. 🛠

First time making some valentine rounds 💕 and first time attempting to paint ombré after my youngest said “use alllllll the colors, mum.” He even helped me glue up. My glass and gas stove top covers have been a clear favorite in my shop over these last few weeks and I am loving it! They’re so fun to make and I know they’re gonna change the feel of so many kitchens! . . .
