This is How I Started... 🔑 April 15th, 2021 I officially unlocked my maker's shop doors and got to work making quilts in The Underground in La Grande, Oregon. I had been asked just two months earlier to join The Underground family by making quilts and teaching classes. After taking some time and discussing it with the hubs I decided to go ahead and give it a shot. * I sat in my shop and made quilts 🧵 and wrote my first quilt pattern 📝. I had my quilts for sale as well as fabric bundles and other goodies. I also taught my first couple classes 👩🏻🏫 during that time. I found I love the people and teaching and have continued on that path ever since. * I have since had to leave the brick & mortar space--I started homeschooling my boys in January 2022, but have kept sewing, writing quilt patterns, and teaching. I also found a wonderful friend, Lucy of @bloombybelmonili who helped me get online, so I could share my quilts and future quilt patterns with the greater world 🤩. * Although there are rough patches in owning a business I am glad I have had the experience and am so grateful that you're here reading about my ELQ (Essentially Loved Quilts) story. Thank you so much for being here and following my progress as I learn and grow. Not much to show for last week’s makes this time. I’ve been working hard on getting some more pottery done and making a lot of decisions for how to set up for my first market coming up this weekend. I made a ton of tags and attached them to all my makes, priced everything, made and cut care cards, and did some shopping for market supplies. Could spend literal consecutive HOURS in my cozy little nook of an art studio at @theartsmill. Only really ever used acrylic paint, charcoal, and gold leaf. Now: 3 kids later and now art is so vital to my sense of self and happiness that I carve out little pockets for making when ever I possibly can.
