Another year around the sun 🎂🎉 As I enter year 39, I can’t help but reflect on the life I dreamt of 10-20 years ago and how blessed I am to live that life today. Of course, it hasn’t been without its ups and downs, joys, hard work and hard lessons, but I’m truly grateful for all of it. The tangible dreams for things like work/profession, living arrangements, lifestyle, physical health etc. were all easy to track. But there’s a quiet comfort I didn’t expect to gain; one that came with knowing myself more fully— • Clarity about the world around me and my place in it • The ability to identify things (or people) that enrich or deplete me • Priorities that better reflect my values, who I am, and what I want • Moments that often don’t make it to social media, yet have the greatest impact And, maybe most importantly, a circle of people who contribute, celebrate, listen, learn, care for, and challenge me along the way. Wow. Today has been pretty incredible! My day started with Norah singing Happy Birthday to me and my incredible Husband giving me cupcakes, balloons, a very sweet card, and the biggest bouquet of flowers I have ever seen! This afternoon we gathered with some friends for lunch and had a great time. I am so grateful you guys all came out just for me. Oh and shout out to my best friend for making me cry with her wonderful, heartfelt card. After lunch, we headed down to one of my favorite places- The Battery ATL! We did some shopping and wandered around laughing with our friends and Norah. My day ended with Norah singing to me as I blew out the candles on the little cake Hubby surprised me with. To say I’m feeling pretty darn blessed would be an understatement. Also, I have to say that ya’ll really made a girl feel special today too. It absolutely made my day! Gosh, I couldn’t feel more loved. As I get older, I realize what’s most important in life and that’s surrounding yourself with friends and family who love you and support you. I’m so grateful to have such an amazing family and group of friends who do just that. I had such an awesome time on Saturday celebrating my birthday by strolling down magazine st, enjoying a nice brunch and shopping with 2 of my most favorite guys. We capped off the evening with a steak dinner. And to think that wasn’t enough, I woke up in the morning to my husband singing happy birthday to me with a cupcake made with home icing and a candle. 39 days left in my 30’s 😳 Man, time flies. When I look at myself in the mirror I still see teenage me looking for the adult in the room to give me some direction. But when I look around the room, I realize I AM that adult. How did I get here? My 30’s have been such a transformative decade for me. The person that went into 30 is not the same person at 39 + 326 days and I’m ecstatic about it. At 29, grieving a loss I never imagined, re-introduced me to my soul and gave me the power to believe in the Phoenix Process that lay ahead. My Mom Mom Thomas always has told me her 30’s were her favorite until she turned 40. 40’s were the fave until she hit 50. 50’s until she turned 60, and 60’s until she hit her 70s. 80’s have been “a real bitch” she says. So I’m looking forward to soaking up these last days in my 30’s and bringing the best version of myself into the next decade.
